Guest guest
My daughter got her doc band on Thursday. She had no reaction and with the exception of checking for redness every 4 hours, and baths she wore it non stop. I did notice that there is pressure around her right eye. She has right tort and her right eye was starting to droop so I figured that they are using the band to push back that eye socket a bit... was going to ask about it on our 1 week follow up. This morning she woke up with a very swollen right eye and a red mark on the right side of her head that after 3 hours still hasn't gone away. On a side note, she does sleep on her right side all night so that could explain the added pressure from the band, but it doesn't seem like her eye should be as swollen as it was. Cranial is closed all weekend so I'm not sure what to do. Should we keep the band off all weekend? Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? Thanks! Jen. Guest guest
If the red spot does fade you could try it again but make sure you do skin checks, and I wouldn't let her sleep in it. If the red spot hasn't faded yet I would leave it off until monday. It is pretty normal to need extra adjustments at the beginning, but usually after 2 weeks the fit is good and things get easier. -christine sydney 19 mo starband grad > > My daughter got her doc band on Thursday. Guest guest
Keep it off until the red had healed completely. My son, 5 mo. got a quarter size red mark on the back of his head and I luckily was able to check with the clinic before this weekend and they told me that the skin care is the most important and to leave it off until it has healed. Otherwise it'll just make it worse and more irritated...and then you'll end up having to leave the band off even longer in the long run. Just leave it off and call the clinic first thing monday. At least that's what I'd do. Hang in there. I'm with you right now on the red spots. Josh has had his band off for two days now and still has his red spot. It is starting to heal, but it's taking some time. They also said that you can put a little cordisone cream on the area (not the eye though) to help speed up the healing proccess on the skin. Good luck! Guest guest
I would probably keep the band off unless swelling and redness is gone then you could try again with skin checks every few hours. I would call CT on Monday as she may need an adjustment sooner than a week from now. Some people need a few adjustments at first. > > My daughter got her doc band on Thursday. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply. We ended up putting it back on after about 4 hours. She woke up today with a slightly swollen eye, but not as bad as yesterday. I am going to call cranial tomorrow to have them check it. She's doing much better today. > > > > My daughter got her doc band on Thursday.
