Guest guest
, It's hard to answer about when you are going to see results about bounce back times. It is just one of those things that start to happen. It's not a great answer- I know. It is frustrating. So much of the SCD is about fine tuning. I knew it was right for me as slowly major complaints like debilitating anal pain and gut pain went away. I dealt and still deal with many symptoms but I saw my quality of life improve that was enough of a carrot for me. I dealt with many mini obstructions on this diet. Wow, when I would make a mistake Whammo! Boy did it hurt. I somehow still managed to work through all of that and I count my blessings that I did. I really don't know what your carrot will be. The SCD works. It just takes time and patience and some of us need a lot of fine tuning. I had to also use an integrative doctor to figure out some of my other issues besides things like yeast I learned I am very hypothyroid have adrenal issues, have post lyme disease coinfections and the list goes on and on. So I am also planning on doing some alternative treatment this year but the major obstacle of surgery is out of the way. I would really suggest you look at your supplement intake. I see you asked questions about it. I personally take fermented Raw cod liver oil. It has a great A D ratio and has really helped me. If I were you I personally would forgo other supplements for now I would however consider probiotics. I don't think you should concern yourself with disease progression or disease names. The reason I say this if you are monitored properly you should be fine. UC CD it's all IBD and all of the symptoms overlap in the sense the GI tract has it's own brain it's own neurotransmitters so referral pain and wacky types of symptoms is totally the norm for us. Also, as die off occurs many bizzare symptoms occur as well. It is great testing through Great Smokies (today they are Genova) but the truth is they only test for a very small amount of gut pathogens. These microbes go hand n hand with IBD and all of this falls under the umbrella of " die off " so sometimes as we start getting better we get worse due to massive amounts of critters dying. I have Crohn's disease. There was a while there whether it overlapped since there was question if I had left sided involvement (this was prior to SCD). Anyway after my first bowel obstruction my disease progressed into Crohn's Colitis which means that my colon was involved as well besides the small bowel. Personally I would stay away from any type of iron. It nearly killed me. Elaine was against Iron too but I know some on the list in life death situations like Debbie have had to take Iron. So it all varies. For me it nearly killed me so my docs decided giving me transfusions was the way to go. I am not saying this is ideal. It was just caustic to my gut to the point of extreme allergy. I think you should totally work through and give LDN a try. You may have had an increase of symptoms due to dealing with yeast. Since LDN works best with no yeast diets SCD is like perfect. LDN may of brought your yeast levels to the surface and that is why you had that reaction. Did you try the transdermal cream? Did you increase your LDN dosage from 1.5 to 3mg to 4.5? The cream from Coastal? Jodi
Guest guest
Hi Jodi, I've been reading all your " adventures " and I'm so glad you've come out of the surgery well!! I have a question...you mention that Genova doesn't do great testing on all the pathogens, can you recommend a good test for that? Thanks! Kelley W. SCD 2/16/09 , 8, mild asperger's symptoms Sara, 11, sals/phenols intol? yeast? > > , > > It's hard to answer about when you are going to see results about bounce back times. Guest guest
Kelley, Your best bet is Genova. Depending on the state you live in it may be legal for you to do more types of testing with the Genova tests. My doc feels Genova isn't the greatest. I don't agree with her I still feel their info is way better than most labs. With the stool tests you can do a urine dysbiosis test and a saliva panel. I would also do a whole work up through regular insurance labs. That way I would cross reference etc. Jodi
