Guest guest
We finally had the meeting to go over Lindsey's psychological testing. Unbelievably her non verbal IQ is average! 98:) but verbal was 78. We spent her 6th birthday yesterday in Disney world. A lady next to us heard us talking about her birthday and she " I said bet your 4 " ! eek! It is so hard to believe she's six already. She was weighed yesterday at 32 pounds. Her birthday clothes don't fit and there size 4. I am going to try drying them so maybe they will shrink:) I am so relived about her IQ testing so I though Id share. Guest guest
Hi Jennie, Lindsey's scores are almost identical to Charissa's! (Well, the numbers are the same but maybe in the opposite categories - I don't have the report in front of me.) Is the school planning on doing more testing next fall? Others on the list can explain this better, but I do know that the scores are supposed to be close. When there is a big point spread between the scores it is indicative of a learning disability. Charissa hasn't been diagnosed with a specific LD, but the point spread and medical info I have given the school are enough to get her a designation of " other health impaired " and she has an IEP. Guest guest
Lindsey's had speech therapy since she was 17 months old and she still sounds like she's two! But she has a very large vocabulary. She also looks much younger then 6 and he finger sucking doesn't help the look of things lol! Jennie
Guest guest
That is great news. Most of our kids have all had their verbal test scores prior to intensive speech therapy come back much lower than normal. When was evaluated for speech services at age 3.6 yrs or so, she tested a year ahead in cognitive but at only age 2.5yrs for expressive (articulation). So the sad part for the average RSS child is that without treatment or speech therapy, the 4-yr-old RSS child not only looks like they are 2-3 yrs old but they sound that way too (they may be using lots of words and complex sentences but no one can understand them)! It makes it difficult at times. > We finally had the meeting to go over Lindsey's psychological testing. > Unbelievably her non verbal IQ is average! 98:) but verbal was 78. > > We spent her 6th birthday yesterday in Disney world.
