Yup. I have titanium staples also. Every once in a blue moon I feel something, I don't know if it's a staple or just the spot where it's reconnected. Not pain just something. When you get home it sounds like you will be really taken care of by the good guys. Imagine a chiro that makes house calls! glad the pillow is working. Katy

I was told I was stapled in the inside with titanium staples (some resident said this to me today so I wonder how true this is- and I forgot to ask the Surgeon) I ddi not think they would use metals.

Thanks Katy..

Your info and guidance has been invaluable. Thanks so much.

Did you think the staples hurt you in the beginning?

My mom is going to buy me a small pillow- did you tie it around you somehow?

Jodi, I had the morphine pump and only used pain killers while I was in the hospital, total of 5 days. I didn't want what you had because of that headache. I really didn't have pain where I needed anything above a tylenol after that time. I just held the pillow in front of me and that way I could apply pressure when I needed it. Like when I had to cough or the car was going over a bump. I didn't tie it because I wanted different depths of pressure at different times. I also had it when I was laying down and laid my hands on top of it and it was just enough weight to help me get to sleep. I used it a good 2 -3weeks. Katy

You're lucky. Maybe I just have bad pain threshold.

When I had my gallbladder out, a nurse let me in on the pillow trick. It worked

like a charm! I also didn't take any pain meds when I got home. The vicodin made

me itch like a mad woman and really didn't help, so I only took it for about a

day.

If you can believe it, when my dad had his major resection way back when (30

years ago?), he refused ALL pain meds! I don't know how he did it, I would have

cratered. He has since lost that stoicness, and takes pain meds for a lot of

stuff.
