I haven't tried purchasing Zelnorm since it was removed from the market, but I have heard it is available in some of the European or Pacific mail-order/online pharmacies. I can find out which pharmacies have it if you like; I can search the message archives of another support group I'm in (for gastroparesis).

I also understand you can, through your doctor, get Zelnorm in the US by going through some sort of application process, getting the med. direct from the manufacturer. My gastroenterologist wasn't interested in doing that, and I agreed since I was on such a low dose of Zelnorm to begin with.

I have managed to make do with Miralax, magnesium and the occasional prune, but I do miss the upper GI motility Zelnorm provided. Of course being on SCD for more than five years has also helped I think, or I've just been lucky and my upper GI dysfunctions have stabilized so my digestive motility isn't worsening.

Just a thought, but I've read that Zelnorm has only been shown to be effective

in women.
