At this point you are talking blood test right? If so, why not. It's simple, relatively painless, and could have some answers for you. Not to mention that he is showing symptoms (of something).

I'm a little paranoid at times that my kids have Celiac. Luckily we have a great pediatrician who tolerates me :) My kids are 2 and 4 right now, show no symptoms, and are growing appropriately so at this years physicals we opted not to test them (my 4 year old had blood drawn last year for seasonal allergies and had a panel done - nothing). But I know she will test them at my request. I try to keep my "paranoia" under control most days :) but believe me that if there is ever a questionable symptom the tests will start!

Good luck, I hope you find some easy answers.

my third kid....

I got diagnosed last September/December-ish. Not too long ago. Afteryears of misery.Had my oldest tested because of the big C and malformed teeth. Gliadinwas high but only gliadin. On subsequent, and additional testing, myoldest looks OK at this time.Had my youngest tested, because of the big C and malformed teetch. Novalues high at this time. My third.... My third has a pattern like mine. Eat a meal and then minutes later, wicked pain in the belly and big D. Lately even vomitting. But only sometimes. No apparent pattern to it. Breakfast is usually OK. Lunch is usuallyOK. Dinner is the problem meal. Dinner is when the belly seems to beunable to deal with eating. This child will have big D and vomit, but no other sickness. Reliefupon big D and vomitting. No fever. No lethargy. No lingeringillness...I guess I should have my third at least blood tested...By the way, this child was my only colic baby. (I didn't thinkwe'd survive the colic as a family. It was awful.)Thoughts?

Oh, dear! Please look into food intolerances, or keep a food diary to see if there are certain foods where this happens and not others.

Esther - What's the downside of getting him/her tested?

When I get glutened, depending on what excatly the food was, I will

vomit also. And like you child, I have blinding stomach pains

before vomitting and immediate relief after. No other symptoms.

However, if it was something like gluten containing soy sauce I

will get the big D and depending on how much was ingested it may be

only one occurrence or it may last for a whole day.

Just wanted to let you know that some people will have relief after

vomitting or the big D, while others will be run down for days.

Everyone reacts differently.

Definitely have your child checked.
