Guest guest
Hi Feeling much better today.. Sitting and I walked and they removed the urinary catheter. I still have the catheter in my back the Epidural and it has been working really well for pain management. Tomorrow I will probably eat the first time. I had water today and it went over well. I am feeling remarkably good. A bit groggy but the pain is so much less. The pain that does bother me is when I breathe or I had to push my IV pole today and I strained myself a bit. Learning my limitations. I have a fantastic team of docs and the surgery went really well. About 3 hours in total. The begining was a bit stressful as it took 4 anesthesiologists to get a viable IV. Then I was given IV sedation and I was pretty out of it. I was in anesthesia recovery for quite a while due to low blood pressure but by 830pm I was in my own room. My blood pressure is still low due to the Epidural so I am just being monitored. I am normally 90/60 and now I am 80/50 even went to 70/38 at a certain point. My healing is happening very quickly and I already heard belly gurgling today!! How exciting is that! My intestines are indeed waking up! My brother, mom and husband have been wonderful.. Thank you all for so many wonderful well wishes and prayers. It's a bit hard being online as my IV's are cranky (I actually have 2 they kept in) BTW- I am in my late 20's for whomever asked. This diet has completely transformed my life and I hope and pray this surgery is key to get me to that next step. Maybe I will be one of those people to reach remission with-in 2 years after all! We should here from pathology next week. Big hugs to everyone and I am in very good spirits. Jodi
Guest guest
Hey Jodi!!! It's so great to hear such good news from you, and I'm so happy that everything went so well! It's amazing how exiting belly gurgles gan be, huh? =) I've realized that for us with intestinal problems, our intestines are kind of like a pet. You love them and want to take care of them, but you just wish they could talk to you and tell you what they need!! As with a dog or cat, they can convey some things through various sounds and actions, but you just can't help but think how much easier life would be if they could talk! Thanks so much for the update! I'm so glad that you're doing so well, and I can't wait to hear how the food goes over =) It will probably feel really good to eat again!AlyssaHi :)Feeling much better today..Sitting and I walked and they removed the urinary catheter. Guest guest
Hi Alyssa, You're so right.. I consider my gut the child I will never have. It really is a full time job. I am very happy with my progress and my docs are super ecstatic with how nicely it's going. Key will be when I intro food and then the surgeon said we can count our blessings. I haven't eaten in days and I just started feeling hungry about an hour ago. Seems my intestines have woken up as I had some gas and slight stool pass when I wiped. Sorry for the graphic details but it is a big deal when this happens. I maybe be able to go home earlier than expected. We shall see. I am so beyond thankful as to how this diet has catapulted me to this state of health as in the past I never would get good news or positive prognosis. It is such a shift and change. I also have a really good group of doctors (one that Elaine mentioned- I go to that practice) I am very lucky to have such supportive people in my life and good health insurnace. When I was a kid my mom was a single mom and we had no insurance- one of the reasons my situation got out of hand. I am feeling such appreciation that it is wonderful. Thansk everyone for your well wishes. Keep it coming. I hope this will be a major key in my healing.
