Guest guest
I have narrowed down avocados as a big no-no for me. It took a month and eating them three separate times to recognize this. They completely bring back my symptoms, including constipation (not going at all!) and gas that could get me a job as a foghorn. Does anyone know why avocados would be such a problem? I can eat all the roasted fennel, roasted red peppers and spinach I want.
Guest guest
Hi , Avocado is a high-carb fruit. Fruit is a type of sugar therefore causes gas if you have candida and/or an abundance of bad bacteria in your gut. Avocados give me heartburn as they are so high in fat. This may be the reason for your foghorn problem ) Just avoid them for now. GERDS and chronic C. SCD 13 months > > > I have narrowed down avocados as a big no-no for me. Guest guest
Thanks . After 3+ months on the diet I have not eaten bananas because these are the problems I thought they would cause. I might be right and will wait longer to eat both avocados and bananas. > > Hi , > Avocado is a high-carb fruit. Guest guest
Bananas give me C. problems also. In fact so does honey...high fat foods give me heartburn and C. problems. I hope you will be able to tolerate them later on. I wish I could do bananas!!! They are so good and filling. Take care, GERDS and chronic C. SCD 13 months > > Thanks . Guest guest
> Hi , > Avocado is a high-carb fruit. Hi , Avocados are actually very low carb. Many people have difficulty with them due to the high fiber, not the carbs. Cooking them has helped some people. This is from LowCarbohydrate.net: " But the true, undying low carb potassium champion is the avocado. All avocados are great, but if you can, buy the little, rough-skinned California avocados; they're a tad lower carb than the big, smooth-skinned Florida variety. One California avocado contains 15 grams of carbohydrate, but 12 grams of that is fiber, for a usable carb count of just 3 grams! And for those three grams, you'll get a whopping 877 milligrams of potassium. Avocados are also a great source of monounsaturated fats, the same heart-healthy fats found in olive oil - a real nutritional bargain, all the way around. " B. Guest guest
Thank you for the info on avocados. I have to say it surprises me. I was sure that I had read they were high fat/high carb fruit. High fiber usually doesn't give me heartburn... Anyway, I will try cooking them. Perhaps it's the high potassium content that I cannot tolerate. I say that because I can't have bananas either and they are high in potassium. Thanks again, GERDS and chronic C. SCD 13 mths ************ > > Hi , > > Avocados are actually very low carb.
