Guest guest
Hello all, Jodi woke up with pain this morning. We learned that it takes the pain meds 15 minutes to kick-in (Pain management is holding back giving her larger doses because of her low blood pressure). After that, events have gone pretty smoothly. She has noticed something exciting and also very odd, the pain she is used to since being 14 years old is not there! So she is adjusting to this new way of being. About 1.5 feet of intestine have been removed (a small portion of that is small intestine). Her surgeon was able to complete the operation Laproscopically (spelling?). This means her recovery will be with little muscle pain (due to not needing to make any large incisions). Most of the pain will be internally. They have her on hepburn (spelling?) injections, a blood coagulant for being in bed to long. Hydrocortisone, which they throughout the day intended to rapidly decrease. They also are going to give her Toordal, which at the moment, I apologize, but forget what it is for. Also on the agenda today is to get her moving, sitting, and even walking a bit to 'Wake the gut up.' As well as her manually using the breathing device to keep her lungs malleable and increase her breathing capacity after being under the influence of anesthetics. So far she has received only good news which is so different from past experiences. She said today " It's so _nice_ getting good news " which silently conveyed volumes of information about previous hospital visits and history. That's it for now. Peace, (Jodi's brother)
