Guest guest
a, Congratulations and welcome home. Please do not try to push yourself too hard these first few weeks. With our mito bodies it takes a while longer to heal and recover after surgery. As far as the pump goes. You do want to have one, but make sure it is portable. The first one they sent me had to be connected to an IV pole and outlet all the time and I am on continuous drip....doesn't make for much of a social life. I currently have a Kangaroo PET, but am not that happy with it and am trying to get it replaced with something that is more portable, will last longer off the charger and doesn't require a big frame. I've heard good things about the zevex system but can't find anyone locally to supply it. What are you running into the tube at this point....hydration only or feedings as well? Let me know if you need anything further.... ) Kristie Message: 8 Date: Fri, 13 Aug 2004 21:58:03 -0500 Subject: Back at home Hi all, I just wanted to let you all know that I am back home after my G/J tube surgery. I was in the hospital until Wednesday, as they decided to keep me a little longer due to complications. I was allowed to go home on Wednesday as I was going to my parents' house ( I live alone). I am finally back at my apartment and taking it easy. I am learning the ways of the G/J tube and will hopefully pick up tricks of the trade soon. We are watching for infection, as my temp keeps going up, but I know things will be okay. Thank you all for your warm thoughts and prayers. They helped me a lot. Malisa read many of your messages to me when I was in the hospital and they meant a lot to me. For those of you who have G/J tubes, (Kristie, Barbara, and others), do you have a pump that you use, or is it just a slow drip? I am trying to get a pump, as I feel this might be needed. Well, I am going back to lying down, sitting up in anything but my recliner for a period of time is still a little hard and I want to be up and at them by Friday when I go back to work. Thankfully, I am still only working around 2 1/2 hours a day at the school, teaching the At Risk Reading Program. Thanks again to all of you. Hugs and bright smiles, a
