I must have missed the OP but every visit when I got to CT there would be ppl getting their kids out and putting their bands on in the parking lot so I started to wonder if I missed instructions to do that so I asked and they said that they absolutely should wear it in the car. was already 24 lbs when we got his band so we were already in a convertible seat and we never had issues. But when he graduated we did worry about cushioning so we put the head support pad back in (he has a decathalon so the heads upport offers another 1 " of foam under and around his head, not just fabric like the infant seats)
