Guest guest
Boy, am I glad I use my " abacus " for all my email. Since the up-to-date IBM is in my son's room I don't use it routinely. My old 486 (55 mhz) with 4MB Ram is what I use to do my basic email, graphics and wordprocessing. Most viruses are designed for Win 98 and up and wreak most havoc on MicroSoft programs (Explorer, MS Word, etc.). Me I use Corel WordPerfect 6.0 (which does not read MS templates and therefore does not engage the template-based viruses. I use Eudora for email and Netscape as a browser. The other computer is firewalled to the max and my son deals with all that nasty stuff. I am quite content with the abacus for communication purposes, doesn't always pay to upgrade. The Abacus has not had a down day due to viruses ever. The other computer " baby " has all the bells and whistles and allows me to work on my webpage and stay up-to-date on programs, but even on " baby " I use Eudora for email , Opera (a Norwegian company) as a browser (very secure) and WordPerfect for wordprocessing, it feels safer and I like to have the little guy make some money on new technology too. Had my Neurontin upped today, hope that will make eating less painful. Bought two cheap 'mood rings', one for each hand to help monitor my body temp, perhaps if I can recognize the rise and fall I can dress more appropriately and avoid the spikes. Sitting here typing it dropped to black from the mauve it was before I sat down - so I won't sit so long, keep it moving. OT coming tomorrow with nutrionist, they're arranging a swallowing workshop at the ALS clinic for me as well. Things are finally getting dealt with, just had to find one good Doctor to help me move it forward, glad I did not settle for less. My son seems to be improving, I think it weighed heavily on him that I was not getting any help. My daughter's friend leaked it to her that Jayde, her boyfriend, is shopping for a ring, he surprised her this morning with a huge bouquet of flowers for St. Nicolas, I think she's in good hands. Lolah are you still out there? You sounded so sad in your last email, darlin', you have friends here, don't suck it up, stay connected, we care. My relatives can really suck too, my sister and mother were not on speaking terms for more than twenty years. Just lately my mother and I visit each other every week and have a lovely time. The people I am closest to, however, are people I have found and adopted into my life, you can choose friends, not relatives. A good number of my closest friends are people I've known only since my illness started, but you have to get out there and be open and available to others. If you advertise someone will answer the ad. Wishing Anne a speedy recovery from her surgery. Take care, all of you. aletta mes, vancouver, bc canada ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Site: http://wwwaletta.0catch.com
