Guest guest
Dear Shy Drager friends, Celeste just got out of the hospital on Saturday. She was admitted last Monday. The reason she was admitted was because the previous week we had her to the ER two times because she was retaining so much fluid. They would give her IV Lassix, drain her and send her home, only for the next day for the fluids to start again. In order to address the adema, the Neuro removed her from two Parkinson’s drugs, Mirapex and tine as he said they have the reputation for causing adema. Well it solved the adema problem pronto but her muscles then went to pot. She started getting painful muscle spasms and she went from being ambulatory, able to shower herself and feed herself to being totally disabled in every way, unable to move even a finger, and barely able to speak in just 3 days. Her is the kicker. They discharged her Saturday morning in that shape with no warning. We are at a total loss what to do. It is overwhelming. Since it happened so fast we are totally unprepared. ! We don’t know what to do to care for somebody in this state. We don’t know how to pay for it. They didn’t send her to rehab as I hear others speak of. They just sent her home with the orders to drop her other two Parkinson’s meds over time, Sinemet and Parlodel. How can we do that? Then she wouldn’t even be able to speak. Do you think we should take her to Vanderbilt where they have experience managing these things? Or just pray to God for help! WOW!
