Guest guest
Hi everyone. i am back this time to post much more frequently instead of lurking. I appreciate all the information I have received just from reading. I am so sorry to hear of so many losses this year but like you all said - It's a much better place. Today I had a procedure that will hopefully aid in my excessive vomiting. I have a problem similar to Anne's although the procedure she had done was not offered to me. This was done in hopes to delay a feeding tube. I haven't been able to eat anything solid for some time now except for pizza for some very strange reason. Maybe because I enjoy it so much. The docotr gave me Versed and Morphine and I was out. He did and endoscopy then preformed a procedure where a ballon was inserted to dilate the cardiac sphincter. Hopefully this will increase emptying. Does anyone have information about the use of DBS for MSA. My friend Deb had it done recently and was interested in it's use and whether it affected any of the autonomic dysfunctions. In closing - you are an amazing group of people. So understanding and sharing. Bless you all. I plan on being here much more often to share and learn. Tim Foley
Guest guest
Welcome back to the fray, Tim! I hope the procedure will help you. If nothing else, it will be a procedure to check off the list. If it does not help, you may want to discuss Anne's procedure. As you note one of the benefits of this group is the sharing. Even if it turns out that it is not applicable, KNOWING there are other procedures is very important. In this day and age of managed healthcare, it is very important to know about options and push for the best healthcare possible. Again, welcome back. Regards, =jbf= B. Guest guest
Tim and all, DBS is recommended for PD, but to my knowledge it is NOT recommended for MSA. DBS helps mainly with tremor which is not a big problem in MSA. A while back we had someone who was talking about DBS for his parent at the Cleveland Clinic, but we never saw any more about it. He said at the time that they were going through with it. Dr. Chelimsky at the Cleveland Clinic used to answer MSA questions, but the link to his page is gone and I can not find an email address for him anymore. The head of the department is edward.westbrook@...> maybe he would know about DBS and MSA. Take care, Bill Werre ------------------------------------ tpfrph wrote: > Hi everyone. i am back this time to post much more frequently > instead of lurking.
