Guest guest
Barbara, Thanks...Can I pass this # onto other parents of newly dxed children with autism..I fortunately found all the resourses here I need for him...but others who have have no idea where to turn could use theses resourses. I give parents all the information and advacacy I can but sometimes they need more. We have North Shore ARC near us and they can help some but still cannot get DMH or DMR to give respite to these parents...and when you have a 2 or 3 yr old with tantrums all the time and head banging it can get hard to deal with especially for parents in their early twenties with no experience in parenting. I have seen many young mother's litterally pulling their hair out and begging for someone to help them deal with their child..and many young marriages break up over the stress. I am sure you have witnessed the same thing. Hugs..GinnyBARBARA TORREY wrote: Ginny - Here's a number I've also been trying to find for you. While it's for folks out in Western Mass, they might be able to point you towards resources out in your area. The name of the program is the Community Resources for People with Autism... phone...) in Easthampton, MA. I hope that they are still in existence as they were a great help for child that I worked with a couple of years ago who also at the time was found ineligible for DMH/DMR services.
