Hi Lin,

Calcitonin was for bone loss and possible reduction of pain from

bone loss. Within 3 months of RSD (before diagnosis)the x-rays

showed an alarming demineralization taking place BEFORE any

treatment other than vicodine for pain.

Calcitonin is used for bone loss. A nasal version was released a

year after I stopped taking it. The side effects of prednisone for

me were- moon-face, weight gain. As for liver, etc. nothing shows

up at this time.

What I a m grappling with is this:

My darling " non-legal " husband M. is in the dark about RSD. He has

no experience and I don't know if I should push info on him or let

him struggle. He is already puzzled because as he said, " I was

really worried Sunday but then Monday you were so much better and

now you are not so good.... "

I just don't know what would be best. Should I try to paint a

picture of the worst or let him be with his illusion of how

a " normal " illness progesses. Last time my previous husband and I

were both in the dark, we were both suffering and crying out for

help. This is such a different situation. Any suggestions from

experience out there????????????

Okay here goes: How my life has changed. Before this I worked full

time, went to the gym 4 to..............

Does that help you at whatever you are grappling with. this all

started June 2003, and has steadily gotten worse. So I consider a

level 6 pain is good.
