Re: chromosomes

That is interesting, Bonnie. What do you think that says about thos

that have Hypermobile EDS?? I'm a total idiot when it comes to

science! and math and geography and history.......Eeek! Let's just

say I'm an idiot and leave it at that! LOL!

Love Lana

Lana - <shrugging shoulders> I have NO idea about HEDS.... to a

non-scientific mind...there didn't seem to be any hypermobile gene that I

saw.... so....personally IMHO hypermobile type IS EDS HEDS....

And HEDs in particular? <again shrugging shoulders> HEDS is on the same

chromosome as VEDS....

Because EDS types are on different chromosomes it explains, at least to ME,

that a person can have symptoms from different types of EDS (like me)...

I'm not that " up " on genetics and confess only knowing a LITTLE bit about it.

I'm hoping Barb Uggen will weigh in on this when she gets up and to

work...<G> hey Barb!!!! what do you say???

I had the biopsy and it was negative for VEDS and the same for AManda...

But, I'm sure my great great grandfather had VEDS as he died at age 46 from

abdominal problems. Family members says it was from something he may have

picked up from being in the Civil War.....but this is where the EDS comes from

thru the Craven branch. Also thru his daughter in law who was a Blair who died

in her early 30's. I need to get her death certificate and see what her cause of

death was. Her mother was a Porter. I've traced symptoms of EDS thru the

Porters while doing the family tree and have talked on the phone with a Porter

relative!

Now, to remember to look at this Porter females ancestors and see if there are

common relatives...<G>

Re: chromosomes

I have symptoms of other types of EDS too, Bonnie, and so do my kids.

You did have the skin biopsy done didn't you? I did, and all it said

was that it wasn't type IV. I wish I had asked what category they

felt I fell into, but in the end, I guess it really doesn't make that

much difference anyway, as most of the treatment is done

symptomatically.
