Keeping Your New Year's Resolution

Do you make New Year's resolutions every year? If so, you probably know that no matter how well-intentioned, most resolutions are not kept for very long. Make this year different! Here are a few ways to help ensure the success of your resolutions in 2006:

Strive for obtainable goals. Your goal shouldn't be to lose as much weight as you can as quickly as you can. Instead, The South Beach Diet™ will teach you how to make weight-healthy eating choices that will help you steadily drop unwanted pounds — and keep them off for life! Set frequent milestones and reward yourself often. We encourage you to set mini-goals, such as eating vegetables with every meal or walking an extra 10 minutes each day. Once you reach your mini-goal, reward yourself and move on to the next mini-goal. Focus on nonfood rewards, such as buying an outfit that flatters your new figure, making time to read a coveted book, or watching a DVD of your favorite movie. Surround yourself with supportive people. You'll be more likely to succeed if you have friends or family offering you encouragement and praise. Bolster your support by connecting with The South Beach Diet™ Online community! You'll find an incredible network of people on our Message Boards, or you can team up with another person with similar goals through our unique Beach Buddy program. Make this the year to adopt a healthy lifestyle for good!
