I think they said about 80 counties had banned all fireworks. They listed several local counties here as well on the 10 o'clock news. They banned fireworks in Coryell County, which is across our county road... about 50 yards from my house, BUT not Lampasas County, where my house and 40 acres are situated!!!! Since we've lived here, 2 neighbors have had brush fires get out of hand and another started a fire while welding. The newest neighbor that is located about 1/8th of a mile from us has teenagers that set off fireworks on the 4th of July. Hopefully, they won't be doing it tonight. I'll be sitting up on my roof with a water hose if they do. Hubby had the sprinkler going on the lawn all day today to soak the grass. It's soooo dry out here. Have a safe New Year's Eve!!! hugs, janet
Guest guest
Here in Brazos county too! Did I tellyou all about the fire last Saturday??? The property behind us caught fire. Supposedly spontaneous combustion in a pile of trash but by the time the wind was done 500 acres had burbed. Luckily the wind was blowing east and it went down the property lines and only burned an abandoned trailer and grass and woods. Had the wind turned south our house would be gone. Hank was gone for 8 hours battling the fire and we had 8 different volunteer fire deoartments and the forestry service working on it. They saved about fifty homes along the path of the fire. My son's best friend lives right next to the trailer that burned. He and my son got there just as the fire was lapping up the side of his home and they managed to get the garden hose on it before it was damaged. I hope people will be smart today but juding by past experience I don't thjink so. Grammy Pat It's not that some people have willpower and some don't.
