,

Yes, I joined the Gymboree play and music classes for both Riley and

Trevor. I found it to be very rewarding for both of them. They were in it at

around a year old and learned alot about socializing with other children and

had a great time doing it. Riley is now six and she still remembers it fondly

as does Trevor.

I say go for it. It's worth the trip.

Enjoy,

Lyn

Hi ,

I did Gymboree classes with both of my older daughters. My son Blaise, who

is 2 years old is the one who has microtia and atresia. As far as Gymboree

is concerned, they really enjoyed the experience. I started them at around

12-18 months, and continued until they were around three. I even had their

two-year-old birthday parties at Gymboree. I think it was a great

enrichment activity, as well as, a socialization experience. The parachute

time at the end of the class is the finale, in which all the kids seem to

love. I strongly recommend it. Unfortunately, Blaise has not had the

opportunity yet, due to all the scheduling needs and car pooling needs

between three children. Classes were just not offered at convenient times

for me.

music class this week but it is in Dublin which is about 40 miles away from

us! All the sales leaflets say it is very successful in America and I was

wondering if any of you had any experience of the classes?

Hi ...

These sort of Mother/Child workshops are all over South Africa. They are

very popular, and virtuall all mothers go along if they are able to (they

are usually rather pricey!)! But, as it was stated, they are only as good

as the owner/teacher! You should think about starting one of your own in

your area - they are a good source of income, and you also have the

advantage of working from home! Most the the people here, run them twice or

three times a week, so it would leave you time to be at home! There are

also others who run them every day of the week - I suppose it would all

depend on the need and your interest!

Re: Gymboree play & music class!

I used to take my son to a Gymboree music class in Arizona. If I can

remember correctly we started when he was 2 1/2 and we did it until he was

about 4. He loved it and I thought it was wonderful. The parents are

involved with the kids in both the age groups. In Arizona the two groups

were half notes for the babies and whole notes for the toddlers.

As far as I understand it, Gymboree locations are franchises so they do have

to follow Gymboree plans, but of course the classes are only going to be as

good as the teachers/owners make them so each location would be a little

different. I did have very good luck though. Kids in general seem to love

music and both of mine sure do.

If you have any other questions on Gymboree, please e-mail me and I would

happy to try and help you.

Hi ,

just to let you know I took Conor (7 months) to the quarter notes music class on

Saturday and he really enjoyed it. At the end of class they blew bubbles out and

he was fascinated with them. Although he has unilateral hearing loss he seems to

really love music. The only problem about this class is that it took us 1hour

and 20 minutes to get there by car! In the meantime the indoor mobile playground

which comes to our local parish hall every Monday is up for sale as the woman

who runs it hasn't got the time to do it anymore. I am thinking of buying it

from her as it only involves 4 mornings a week. This week there was a new

mother and toddler there who has moved to our area and she comes from South

Africa! It's a small world sometimes...

Conor had a developmental check last week and they think he is a little bit

immature for his age as he is not saying any words such as Ma Ma or Da Da yet.

He is still just making vowel sounds. The last time we saw the ENT doctor he

said his speech should develop normally eventhough he has unilateral hearing

loss. He only has very little hearing in his right ear and normal in the other.

He's 7 months old now and anytime I try to get him to say MM or BB sounds he

just laughs at me!

That's all my news!
