Being a relatively new celiac, I hate the loss of being carefree when I

take my little grandson out for a good time.

What prompted this question is a funny comment from my oldest

child. I overheard her say to someone " My mom has celiacs. She

can't eat wheat, rye, barley or oats or anything made from them.

Can you imagine? She can't eat Lindt chocolates any more. Oh well.

Now I get her share. " It's kind of funny to see a child's view

of the world. :-)

The worst part of the whole thing, though, is that I'm now a PITN

restaurant patron when I don't want to be. I guess if I don't want

to be a PITN restaurant patron, I don't have to be. I can just

learn to cook better. Laugh!

LOL. We're trying a new restaurant on Saturday. This afternoon I

called the restaurant to make a booking and to check that they can

accommodate my dietary requirements. the person who answered the

phone called the chef who talked to me and then told me to tell them

when I arrived that I had spoken to him and he'd come out and work

something out with me. I am really excited, this restaurant is

getting rave reviews and the chef is treating my food issues like it

is no big deal.

I hate being a PITA when I go to restaurants. I also have to be

dairy free and that makes it doubly difficult.

I hate being a PITA too. Some restaurants *make* you feel that way, others *want* you to be happy by not getting sick and come back! (of course, those are few and far between.) But I also have other allergies, dairy, peppers, potatoes, cheddar ... there are a few others (walnuts..)

Have a gluten free day!

What I hate most about being celiac....

Well with 2 children (10 & 6 yrs old) recently diagnosed and possibly myself (will know next week) I hate the extra cost of food, and all the running around to different shops to buy everything!! I feel like all my time is either at the shops or in the kitchen.

What I love most about being celiac.....

That finally after all this time (years for the elder child) the kids are on the road to getting well and hopefully staying that way.

I now almost hate holidays. Most holidays revolve around food, potlucks, visiting. My MIL is still the type that if she wants to make something to take to a potluck, and she doesn't like the gf version, she'll just go ahead and make hers, and leave me fending for myself. Potlucks are the worse, because sometimes I've only been able to have what I brought.....even the salad had croutons in it.

I, like everyone else, hate being a pain in the neck at resturants, family functions, and when with friends. Its so annoying and embarrasing to always have to be so "difficult." Luckily I have a lot of friends who try hard to accomadate me and help me explain to waiters and waitresses that im not just trying to be picky and annoying that its a serious thing! That, I am very gratefull for. It really has shown me who my true friends are! I also love the fact that it made me grow up fast, and pay more attention to what I eat (even though im still "fluffy") and it has somehow made me love to cook and bake (that could be why I'm "fluffy")! Hopefully someday soon I will be married and have a family who appreciates my food. (other than just my roomate!) -Marinaesther_p210 wrote: What do you hate most about celiac?
