Guest guest
Last Wednesday at our weekly appointment for adjustment it was brought up that my son may be outgrowing his band quickly. He has been in it for 5 1/2 weeks and it is coming along really well. She wanted to mention the 2nd band in case we need it and so that we can get the insurance process started again. I am not worried about that because our insurance covered the DOC Band 100% but it is depressing thinking about having a 2nd one made. He started the band at 5 1/2 months (and he was 6 weeks premature)and he is a very big boy that grows quickly. Have any of you been in this situation of having to get a 2nd one? She doesn't even think he'll make it to 10 weeks at the rate he grows. The band doesn't bother me at all, in fact he looks so different without it on! It just makes me sad that this may just prolong it even more, and we have to go through everything again possibly. Just needed to vent:) Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, I don't want to scare you but is he growing at a normal rate for his age or an extreemly fast rate for his age? I would ask if hydracephalus is a possibility. Our son was growing at a normal rate and then it appeared that he maybe was growing too fast so the ped. had us come back 6 weeks later to remeasure his head (this was at his 9 month visit). Fortunately, his head growed the correct rate so hydracephalus was no longer a concern and has not been brought up again (he is now 14 months old). Are you happy with his current head shape? If the answer is no, then I would continue with a second band. Our son got 5mm correctin in one band (which brought him to 3mm assymetry). I wish we could have gotten 1 or 2mm more but oh well, his head looks great. > > Last Wednesday at our weekly appointment for adjustment it was brought > up that my son may be outgrowing his band quickly. Guest guest
No it is just him being very big. Hydrocephalus is not even a consideration. He is just a very big chubby baby. Last week he was 23 pounds. Thanks! > > > > Last Wednesday at our weekly appointment for adjustment it was > brought > > up that my son may be outgrowing his band quickly. Guest guest
We had 2 bands - but we had Hanger, not CT. My dd slowed in her growth during her 2nd band - and I lost patience - so I can't say that the 2nd band was great - BUT I will say that I am glad we tried. What are the measurments now? How do you feel about a 2nd band? ... I think that has alot to do with it. Jen and Luli - 27 months Left tort - Right Plagio - Hanger Band Grad - CA http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/j/jens5th/ 2nd band Just got back from CT and they are recommending a 2nd band for our now 8 mos old with tort and plagio. We have been in the band 8 weeks and they suggested casting in two weeks to get the new band shortly after, with another 10-12 weeks in the 2nd. He has had 4mm of improvement in the past 8 weeks with about 1 cm of head grow. We have seen improvement but also see room for growth. Anyone have any experience with a 2nd band, is it worth it? Did you see progress? How old was your baby when you banded again? Thanks! Planning your summer road trip? Check out AOL Travel Guides.
