They were supposed to go to the GT middle school for the HI program but the itinerant is a witch and when deaf son wasn't chosen in the lottery for that school she has taken it upon herself to say Jake will go to that school, which may be a battle for her...LOL I believe that the IEP team decides his placement not her. (sarcasm) I just wondered how it " really " works for kids with disabilities in writing and the mechanics of language. Second child is behavior issue child with bipolar and the program he is in now has had great results working with this school and actually suggest it. They are on different calenders though, causing some serious issues if they are in different schools. Elaine

Guest guest
Hi, Elaine! I saw it work for ALL my students . . . introverts, extraverts, behaviorally-challenged (LOL), all learning abilities, males, females . . .A lot of it seemed to stem from them feeling more grown up, in my opinion. They felt when we got in our big semi-circle, they were suddenly college students or something and really gave me their best. Our state reading and writing tests on my team only shot up the years I used Paideia seminars in my classes! Behavior improved in my classes, too. Student-centered learning is the way to go . . . a lot of teachers just aren't very comfortable with it. Good luck with your kids! Blessings, Robin > > > > > > I taught middle school English for 11 years and taught with this > method > > sometimes. Guest guest
> > Hi, Elaine! > > I saw it work for ALL my students . . . >>>> Thanks Robin! I " think " it should be a good fit. Jake has so many issues with writing and such I worry about him. However, this is the Museums Magnet program in Raleigh where the go to all the museums/theaters/etc and I think he will like that because he is big into science and history stuff. However, the projects may be another story....LOL My main concern is that a neighbor sent her kids there and said they were not prepared when they got to high school. However, the HS now has a paideia study path. What part of NC are you in?

Guest guest
Southeastern. We're only a couple of hours from you guys. I am in Whiteville (Columbus Co.), but I had been in Currituck County (Northeastern) on the Outer Banks when I was using the Paideia method. I am a homemaker now (domestic CEO--ha ha).
