Hi group,

I got my thyroid bloodwork today:

TSH: .81 range .30-3.5

T3F: 391 range: 230-420

T4F: .9 range: .8-2.8

I like all readings EXCEPT the T4Free...any idea why that is on low end?

Also—I want to try ARMOUR — just to see if it helps with inability to lose weight and hair falling out (2 hypo symptoms left).

I take .100 mcg Levoxyl and 20 mcg Cytomel. How muc Armour would that equal?

Thanks!

Sue

The numbers with Armour are a little harder to get your T4 up with

out increasing your T3..

1 grain of Armour = 38mcg T4 and 9mcg T3

2 grains = 76mcg T4 and 18mcg T3

2 1/2 = 95mcg T4 and 22.5mcg T3

Now I am not a doctor, not pretending to be one..if you switch to 2

grains you will lower your T4 even more..if you switch to 2 1/2

grains you will be getting more T3 then you are now and you are

close to the top of the range..but your T4 would be not quite what

it is now and that is not going to help raise the T4 either.

I believe the body needs T4 to convert to T3 on a as needed basis to

run smoothly during the times it is not getting the direct T3..

A few suggestions??Increase from .100mg to .125mg/keep cytomel the

same..and lab in 6 weeks..

Start 2 grains of Armour plus half your Levoxyl dose..this will give

you 126mcg of T4 and 18 of T3..lab in 6 weeks and if all goes well

increase to 2 1/2 grains plus the half tab of Levoxyl which would

give you 145mcg of T4 and 22.5 mcg of T3..

Your labs look good other than the T4 being low..unfortunately if

you do a Armour only switch you will find you still would not get

any extra T4 with out having to raise your T3 beyond what it is now

and with it being so close to the top end of the range I am not sure

I would want to add any more T3.

Hi Kats, thanks for your reply.

I think the labs are good too, but I was last on .112 of levoxyl and 20 mcg of the cytomel and my TSH went down to .01 and my T4 was STILL at .9!

So many here keep saying how much better armour is I thought I would try but I dunno now...

Plus I looked at your conversion and this is what it says at the armour site, which would mean I would only need 1 grain:

1/4 grain = (15 mg) = no T3 and 25 mcg T4 (.025 mg)

1/2 grain = (30 mg) = 12.5 mcg of T3 and 50 mcg T4 (.05 mg)

1 grain = (60 mg) = 25 mcg of T3 and 100 mcg T4 (.1 mg)

2 grain = (120 mg) = 50 mcg of T3 and 200 mcg T4 (.1 mg)

So how coulld 2.5 grains only be 76 / 18?

Thanks,

sue
