Guest guest
My son has plagio with 8mm asy. and has been wearing his starband for a month. His first check up today and there was no improvement. I know it has only been one month but was still disappointing. This may really depend on your child, but I am just wondering how fast other people have seen results with the helmets. Thanks, Aya
Guest guest
I am unfamiliar with the star band but in my sons DOC band from Cranial Tech we were done banding in 9 weeks. Was 15 mm off and was down to about 1 with so much correction in ears and bossing on front of the head. We are amazed. He was only 4 1/2 months when we banded and a little over 6 months when we stopped. Lucky for us he started to sleep on his side and tummy as well as back so he was repositioning himself to help stop regression which is possible in very young graduates. He is now 9 months and doing great. I would talk to other moms at your starband office. Possibly your child is not experiencing a growth spirt which helps with the whole process. I would also check that you do not have an ill fitting helmet, and if your child is older it will also take longer to correct. However, 8mm in a DOC band would typically be a month or two if he is young. Mabye go see someone at Cranial Tech to see what they think. They offer a free consult. Might be nice to hear someone elses explanation. Good luck, but if on the next visit you are not satisfied talk to a supervisior and get a new band. I went for fittings every week for the first month and then every 10 days for the next due to my son being young. I wonder why you are going monthly DOC does it every two weeks standard for older babies. Guest guest
Aya, My son is in a DOCband from Cranial Technologies. He started at 15mm and started 2 weeks ago at which time he was 7.5 months old. I've already seen improvement. My son's head has been growing steadily but not drastic growth spurts. Recommended time of correction is 2.5 to 3 months. My son also has minor eye and ear asymmetry. I think it depends on the child but after a month, I would expect to see some results. How old is your son? I second Tammy, maybe check at at cranial technologies and see what they think. I'm not really sure what the answer is because I'm not an expert on these things so maybe get a second opinion. Sorry, not much help. Hang in there.
