Guest guest
I am laughing so hard because you are so right! I would ditto "have fun exploring"! If your store is like our local one, there will be a whole section of one isle dedicated to just gf products, but they are not the only items that are gf in the store. Our store now has shelf tags declaring if an item is gf, boy they've come a long way in the 3 years we've been shopping there. Enjoy your shopping trip & let us know what you find! Re: Wild-Oats Yeah, an extra 200 bucks on the way there. Hee Hee. Actually, I love Wild Oats. I find it to be a little pricier than Whole Foods, but they have some wonderful specialty items. For example, they do like seven different homemade soups per day. I have found several of these to be GF (the roasted vegetable, the mediterranean tomato and vegetable, and the chicken and rice). They're all quite tasty. And they have a fresh sushi bar. I have become a big sushi eater since going GF. I keep a bottle of wheat-free soy sauce in my car in case I want to get some for lunch while I'm out. Let's see, what else...They occasionally have good sales in the meat department. When they do, I buy because they have very good meat. Otherwise, I can't handle paying over $20 for two ribeyes! The Wild Oats house brand is usually good, and cheaper than the brand names. But I guess my favorite thing at Wild Oats is the bulk bins. I like it that if I need slivered almonds for a recipe, I can buy the 3 tablespoons I need instead of paying a lot for a whole bag and the rest go rancid. You can also buy all of the different kinds of flours from the bulk bins, but I haven't yet. I would worry about cross-contamination. Here's a bizarre suggestion: they carry fresh young coconuts. These are white and have had the brown outer shell sort of sliced off. If you take one home and pierce a hole in it, you can pour out the nectar. It's clear, not white. My naturopath friend swears that this nectar is absolutely the most nutritionally wonderful thing you can put in your body. We add it to smoothies and it makes them taste sweeter, and only slightly coconutty. Probably not what you're looking for, but I thought I'd mention it.Get a sitter if necessary, and really spend some time exploring - have fun! >> We just got a Wild Oats here, and I am going to go check it out this > weekend. Is there anything that anyone reccommends I should pick up? > >
Guest guest
Do you worry about cc? Re: Wild-Oats Their deli has a quinoa black bean salad that is fabulous (and GF). It's pricey, but we get it as a big treat once in a while.Sue in Denver>> We just got a Wild Oats here, and I am going to go check it out this > weekend.
