Guest guest
Thanks for all the info. It is too early to tell if the procedure I had is a success or not but It did no harm. Now I have to work on improving my overall nuitrition. I'm getting tired of ensure and Carnation Instant Breakfast (a friend wrote to this company about me and they sent two cases of instant breakfast!). The consistancy is geting to me. Dr. B. Tatter of Wake-Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.recently did a DBS procedure for a friend. I'm just afraid he gives the impression that it will resolve the autonomic problems of MSA when in fact all it will do is attack those pesky PD symptoms if someone has them at all. I do have PD symptoms and was originally diagnosed with PD but to be honest with you - they are the least of my concerns. I hate to see false hope given out. I hope he explained to my friend that it will not eliminate any autonomic problems. Apparently he has done this for about 50 patients with MSA. I've been trying to increase MSA awareness amongst those with Parkinson's. There is an online Non Profit Group called People living with Parkinson's, www.plwp.org, that accepts all with any Parkinsonisms. I am the administrative assistant and Communications Advisor for this 450 member group. They need to be better informed. I have asked Pam to speak sometime in the near future via our Yahoo chat room. I am finding many questioning there diagnosis. This groups welcomes all and if anyone is interested in helping let me know. Happy New Year to all of you. My New Years Resolution is to use this forum much more often LOL Tim http://msainfo.tripod.com _________________________________________________________
Guest guest
Tim, I got a blender and made larger portions of food, then took the food and pureed it - i.e. gravy, turkey and stuffing together, or chili, pumpkin pie and cool whip, etc. Then pour it into ziploc bags and freeze it in meal size portions. Pull a bag out and nuke it in the microwave, instant meal. I would be glad to help with your group, let me know when. Charlotte's death certificate reads: Primaty cause: Cardiac arrest Secondary cause: Parkinsonianism Her official dx was Extrapyramidal Disease, Dyskinesia/Tartive Dys, Gait difficulty/Imbalance, Dystonia (More than one therefore MSA) however, there was no autopsy. It would be interesting to hear the results of that many DBS operations on MSA patients if he wrote them up. Charlotte's worst problem was the rigidity (PD type) BUT I have not seen where that can be helped by DBS. Take care, Bill Note: Chat starting Tim Foley wrote: > Thanks for all the info.
