Hi

I was wondering if anyone on this site lives in New york in the 5 boros

area. I live in Queens about 5 mins from the Nassau border.

The reason I am asking and I think alot of other moms wonder about too

is if there are so many kids out there that are getting plagio and

being fitted for helmets then how come I have never seen a child with

a cranial helmet/band in public or are parents taking the helmets off

of their children when they go out????

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

I live in CT and I have NEVER seen a child with one. A few people I know said that they had a couple of friends who had children with the helmet but yet I have never seen one. I wondered the same thing as you. I don't take my son's helmet off when out in public unless it is extremely hot...cathyl65 <cathy.laresch@...> wrote: HiI was wondering if anyone on this site lives in New york in the 5 boros area. I asked our ortho to introduce us to some of her other patients so we could

meet some people in the area going through the same thing. We live in the

SF Bay Area and there are only a couple of places here that make the band so

I knew if other kids had them they were being seen at the same place as us.

We ended up finding another little boy in the same town as us with a band.

He is only six weeks older than my son. People around town have actually

mistaken them for each other :>) I was at the pharmacy one day and the girl

at the counter commented on the fact that my son was in that day with mom

instead of dad. I mentioned that he had never been in with his dad and at

that point we realized it must have been the other banded baby that was in

the pharmacy the day before us :>) We have had a couple of play dates with

the other boy and they are fascinated with each other's helmets! They sit

there and touch each others helmets, taste them and poke their fingers in

the holes. I can tell that we get lots of interesting looks when we are

together. I passed by one woman in Starbuck's who said, " What happened to

them?! " , referring to their bands.

I've also met online through this group several people from the Bay Area

that I'm hoping to get together with in the future.
