Guest guest Posted February 16, 2001 Report Share Posted February 16, 2001 HI all, just heard from allison....Boy...Doctors are such jerks. She saw an on call dr. Did do the xray and it showed nothing but the dr said Makeila's throat was REALLY red and she had a fever. BUT She refused to to a strep test....Makeila has had strep 2 times in 6 weeks. She said it would be a waste of time.. said " So waste my time " She still wouldn't do it. She also wouldn't up her seizure med. She is suppose to whenever she is sick. So... Nothing was done tonight. She told her to give her some tylenol.. knows she will be right back there tomorrow. She is also reporting the dr. Could have all been handled tonight. If Makeila does need antibiotics she would be better by Tues and could go to work and Makeila to school. With the seizures, she has to be so careful when she gets sick. The illness causes seizures and so do the antibiotics, so the meds need adjusting. The dr wouldn't even check her blood test results to see what her levels were from the test she took yesterday, so we don't even know it the dose of meds is right yet. Geez.......!!!! We went through the same things with and Jina. I have found a knot (large bump, the size of maybe a quarter) on the back of my head sort of behind my left ear. That was last night and it is a little bigger today and it is sore to touch. My daughter said it could be a boil coming up or a cyst. Sometimes it hurts whether I am touching it or not. Then, this evening I noticed that my left ear began to hurt inside, just like my ears hurt me when I had my very first flare a year ago. I know that if I do come down with a flare, I should find a doctor (usually on a weekend, isn't it!). I sure do not want to have to go back on Prednisone, not even a little bit. Well, I had better close for now and get to bed. You take care and remember that I love you and you are always in my thoughts. AND having it written in her chart that she NEver want to see her again. Makeila is doing better this morning. Hopefully she will continue and there will be no more trips to the hospital or doctors. I'm really tired of them.LOL Lucy, you had better be careful of the bump. I had one behind my ear and it abcessed and boy was I in trouble. If it continues to get bigger get to the dr. You might need antibiotics. They had to lance mine and I was sick for 6 weeks because of the infection. Please be careful...PROMISE ME you won't wait too long like you usually do!LOL Dawn, I hope your flare is better today. BoyI can sympathize with you. Sounds like we are flaring in the same places, ears, ribs, nose, throat. You really should check into being on something else besides pred. AND you do need something for your stomach. You don't need to have that problem on top of everything else. The dose of pred you are on should be controling your flares better. Please see your dr. I thank all of you for being a special part of my family. Believe me Dawn, this is one special group. We become so close that we are family. I'm glad that you are part of it. Sometimes I would like to just haul off and put my foot right up a Dr.' Butt so far they would have to have it surgicaly removed. Especialy where kids are concerned. Your daughter should report this Dr. because no one should be allowed to suffer in any way at all. And if the dr. did this once you know it will happen again. Sure hope they find some relief somewhere. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and i feel so bad for you all. A few years ago my youngest daughter who has Asthma was having trouble breathing so we took her to the E.R. They did an xray and gave her a breathing treatment, then said she was fine and sent her home. The next morning she was in resp. distress so we rushed her back to the hospital. We found out that the doc. never looked at the xray. My daughter had pnuemonia and had to be admitted. I was furious. This is our local hospital but we won't use it anymore. Next weekend having a party for my husband's birthday. that will be 3 Birthday's down and one more to go this month. Been sewing like crazy making presents. I'm doing okay.I've had terrible mood swings and forgetfulness, don't know if it is the Cyclosporine. is doing okay, her mood is positive which I am thankful for. Does your daughter (?) have a regular doctor to see? She needs to contact that hospitals' Board of Ethics " and file a complaint. There has to be someone who can treat Makeila. Strept is very serious, as I am sure you know, but no matter how serrious it may be it will never keep a mother (or grandmother) away from a sick child. Hang in there and God Bless.
