Hi Sheila,

I tried doing the stretches while he was asleep 2 times tonight, and he

still kind of curls up and wont let me do the side bend stretch ear to

neck. He is asleep but fusses in his sleep. Do I need to wait until

he is a deeper sleep? or is he curling up and fussing b/c he is

uncomfortable with stretches? I guess I am just not sure how to do

them. Do you do them when he is on his back in his crib? I tried that

and he just rolled over to side and fussed. You said you had no

problem when your son was sleeping. Any advice. Thanks a lot.

Hi ,

Some nights I have trouble with my son too. Usually if I wait about

10 minutes after he's fallen asleep he's OK with it, but not if I

wait much longer (like 30-40 minutes after he's fallen asleep). You

might have to experiment with your son to see when he's in his

deepest sleep. Sometime he curls up and fusses when I start

stretching as well, but I've found that if I only stretch it part

way and then slowly inch him further down into the stretch it

usually works. Your son may be so tight that you won't be able to

do the 'full' stretch at first. My son never had much of a tilt, so

the ear to shoulder one was always easy, but getting him to turn

left was sometimes a challenge in the beginning. I've also just

started stretching his right hamstring (he's been crawling funny for

months and now it's really tight) and he often winces and pulls his

leg back on that one, so I just have to back off and start slowly

again. Good luck!
