After DS has been sick and insomniac again

for 3 weeks, and no helpful suggestions coming from the pediatrician, I finally

slapped myself on the forehead and thought to call the naturopathic doctor we’d

seen years ago. We had a very long telephone consultation this morning (he’s

on sabbatical, but was happy to consult this way). He listens better than any

other medical professional I’ve ever known and he takes everything I say

SERIOUSLY. It’s so refreshing.

Anyway, he had some helpful suggestions.

Even though every one of us is different, I thought some of these ideas might

be worth passing on.

For fatigue for me, he suggested 200mg

twice a day of Rhodiola Rosea, an herbal supplement. I had read about its

energizing potential and hope it will be a substitute for the provigil that

several of us can’t take anymore.

DS tested sensitive to yeast in Enterolab

tests. Dr. said today that that includes vinegar! Here I was all happy that

vinegar was gf, which it is, but never ever thought about the yeast needed for

it’s fermentation process. Bummer. That lets out a lot of condiments for

now.

He suggested some amino acids: Tyrosine

for thyroid support and 5HTP (tryptophan) to support serotonin and sleep.

These kinds of remedies get confusing for

me. I was very glad to have an experienced practitioner put all of our symptoms

together and make a clear recommendation.
