Guest guest
how long has it been since you been to the doctor?? Hi, I weighed in yesterday. According to WW scales I started out at 262.6 and yesterday I weighed in at 258. The scales at my doctors office weighed me right after going to WW at 250. I then went home and my scales weighed me at 250. Now this morning my home scales weighed me in at 248. I'm not understanding the difference? So I ran over to my friends house and her scales weighed me at 250. So which is correct? My doctors office says their scale is correct. This was my 3rd and last meeting / weigh in. I'm going to continue with WW because I like the program. The meetings, weigh ins are another thing. I just can't stand them. I tried going different days with different leaders and they just don't excite or motivate me at all. I get more information and support here in one day than I've got in 3 meetings. Does anyone else feel like this? Today starts my 3rd week on this program. Oh and one other question. As my weight goes down, do I need to decrease my points to the next lower level? Thanks Shauna
Guest guest
I believe it was around 250 something. Shauna then I think I would work with that one if you go to the doc often...since you are considering not going to WW
Guest guest
I may be deluding myself because my gym scales are seven pounds over mine. I use mine. My doctors is about three pounds difference. Also at the gym, they measure your BF with this hand held device and they have my BF at 36% which to me is really high considering I work out hard and haven't got that much to lose. My BF at online calculations is between 25 and 26...so it is all extremely confusing. So ANYWAY, point is I have chosen my scale. Whatever scale you use, the pounds are going down. And the mirror and your size clothes will tell you when you are there. Yes, as your weight goes down, your points go down. SADLY I am at the lowest points now. Joya I weighed in yesterday. Guest guest
Where online can you check your body fat? I thought this had to be done with a physical machine, same as weighing yourself. You may be at the lowest points but that just means that you can't go down to lower points which is good. You are also closer to your goal too! ----- Original Message ----- I may be deluding myself because my gym scales are seven pounds over mine. I use mine. My doctors is about three pounds difference. Guest guest
I would agree to pick a scale and stick with that one. I have heard that WW collaborate their scales so I would think they'd be pretty accurate. I have just started but I have decided to go by the WW scale and not weigh myself at home. My first week I weighed in it was more than I expected but it was an evening meeting and when I weigh at home I usually do it first thing in the morning and without clothes. That can easily make a few pounds different. I would say just try to be consistent as far as time of day and using the same scale. Just curious, many at the meetings take off their shoes before they weigh in. What do the rest of you do? I'm lazy and decided to leave mine on rather than tie/untie unless I am wearing "heavy" shoes then I will probably take them off. Okay now after writing this I may have changed my mind already. I could wear slip on/off shoes to my meetings and then it would be the same all the time. I might end up doing that
Guest guest
I take off my watch, rings (I only wear a small watch & my engagement ring & wedding ring - but hey every ounce counts!!!) and my shoes. I always wear either sandles or loafers (depending on the weather). ============================== 213/207.4/150 Halloween Challenge: 196.4 > >Reply-To: Weight_Watchers_Member_Support_Group >To: Weight_Watchers_Member_Support_Group > >Subject: Re: Weigh In Scales >Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2003 11:07:34 -0500 > >I would agree to pick a scale and stick with that one. Guest guest
Maybe it's something they have changed recently but where I go they have signs up that say "no bare feet". They do provide paper towels for those wearing sandals so they can weigh without shoes. ----- Original Message ----- I too have removed my slip-on sandals and I wear a comparable outfit each week so things are pretty consistent. But about a month ago I developed something that's not pleasant (don't read on if you're squeamish!). I got a plantar wart. Before you tell me that it could have come from anywhere, let me tell you that No, it couldn't have come from anywhere ELSE than the WW scale. I don't go barefoot anywhere. We don't go camping, we don't use public showers, I don't even walk barefoot in my own yard because my feetsies are so tender!! The one single place where I have removed my shoes in public is at the WW meetings. So I know without a doubt that I picked it up there. And if you think about it, it's extremely likely, with all those different bare feet on the scales, that someone left the virus there. The remedy for the plantar wart became painful but I'm happy to say it's gone completely. Believe me when I tell you . . . . I now wear socks inside my slip-on sandals and I do not intend to go barefoot there again.
Guest guest
Hi, Shauna, Yeah, if the meetings aren't doing it for you, find something that works. If, as you say, the online support here works, then stay with that. As far as the scale difference, there are a few variables: what time do you weigh yourself at the meeting versus at home (versus at the doctors) ? So, it's time of day, how much you've eaten, the clothes you're wearing, shoes, etc. and finally, that the scales themselves are accurate. As someone else pointed out, the important part is staying on the same scale and watching the pounds drop 8-) As far as your other question: yes, as you lose weight, you reduce your point allowance. Barb posted this a few days ago, and I'll repost it here: Weight:--------------Point allowance less than 150........20 150-174................22 175-199................24 200-224................26 225-249................28 250-274................30 275-299................31 300-324................32 325-349................33 350 pounds or more 34 The point allowance doesn't take the 35 flex points into consideration, that is, you get the flex point on top of that daily allowance. This means that your points should now be 28 each day plus flex points. good luck with your decision! - Elissa Weigh In Scales Hi,I weighed in yesterday. Guest guest
Strangely enough, at our meeting (it's in Canberra, Australia), we MUST wear shoes.... However, in Queensland you're allowed to go shoes-free. After your story, I'M GLAD!!!! 8-) -Elissa Weigh In Scales I thought I'd jump in to the discussion on weigh-ins and scales...My weigh-person at WW told me that the scales are calibrated monthly and the "engineer" who does it is extremely anal about making sure they're as accurate as possible. That's comforting, to me. :)I too have removed my slip-on sandals and I wear a comparable outfit each week so things are pretty consistent. It was on the bathroom carpet (the cut-to-fit wall-to-wall type) and my weight on that was fairly consistent, but way way different than the one at WW. So .. . I cut out a square hole in the carpet, so now my scale sits directly on the floor!! This morning I weighed 242.5 and home and at WW my weight was 242.2!! I'd say that's pretty dern close! But on the funny side, I've been known to weigh those same slip-on sandals (trying to figure out if I wanted to weigh WITH them on!) . . . and I've even weighed my eyeglasses. ROFL!! Some of us (ahem, ahem) could be considered ultra-anal!!!Bette, laughing at herself in CA
