Hello Aya,

My daughter had both brachy and plagio with 8mm assymetry. She has

been wearing a DOC band for almost 8 weeks and she graduates on

Tuesday. (Yeah!) I don't have the final numbers yet, but I'm sure

they're going to be very small. Her head looks fantastic!

For my daughter, we saw results immediately -- like within a few

days. However, we banded early (my daughter was 5 months when we

started) and she was going through a growth spurt when we started.

At the one month mark, her brachy was gone, and the plagio was

noticeably better, but not gone. At two months (today) the plagio is

also completely gone -- to my eye anyway.

How old is your son? If he's less than 7 months, I would think he

should have had some noticeable correction by now.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone!

My son started with his starband at 7 months old, so he is 8 months

now. He has been growing steadily, but hopefully he will go thru a

growth spurt in the next month or so and we will see results next time.

My son is in a DocBand, which he started wearing at 17 months old, and

even in the first week, we saw a spot of improvement in his flat spot.

I believe that 8mm is considered on the mild side, but I would expect

that you should still see results fairly quickly, especially if he is

younger, but definitely after a month. Was this your first check up

since the day he was fitted? Or just your first measurement? How old

is he? I would be concerned if you only go once a month. I know

younger babies go every week to 10 days for adjustments, and my son

was originally scheduled for every 2 weeks because of his age, but

then they switched to every 3 weeks because he grows slower. But

again, he's 18 months old and that's still not a month between

adjustments. Do you visually see any differences? Or are you just

going by measurements? Did the ortho have anything to say about it? I

would think the only reason that would be acceptable for not seeing

change after a month is that his head hasn't grown at all. In which

case, it just might be a slower process for you. But if his head is

growing, and there's absolutely no change, that would concern me that

the band isn't fitting right and is not doing what it's supposed to

do. Please keep us posted on the situation.

Good luck!
