Guest guest
I am going to admit to being a little confused here on your T3 dosage flucuations. I have done lots of reading on the T4/T3 ratios..and the one I seem to like is 86/14... Armour is 38/9 which is why although Armour is good it is not for everyone.. Synthetic T4 has a 1/2 life of around 7 days..so it is common for fine tweaking to include alternating doses on other days.. Synthetic T3 has a 1/2 life of only a few hours..this is why people on Armour or Cytomel multidose through out the day..this is where I am confused on your T3 dosage? Why drop it on the week end? Because I don’t need that extra T3 on weekends when I don’t work as much. Are you suppose to be either too wired during the week or comatose during the week ends? Neither. It all feels SO PERFECT. I work like a madperson during the week on deadlines with authors and printers and on weekends, I sleep, go to the movies, clean house a little and just chill out... The T3 you take during the week has no effect on the T3 you take on the week ends.. And your point is? What I take on the weekends is a “break” from the revving of the T3 — I don’t see any harm in that — I am in range, and feeling good, both during the week and on weekends.... Suppressing your thyroid actually is what you want to do.. And that’s a done deal... All labs show that clearly. TSH stands for Thyroid Stimulating Hormone..when you have a TSH your thyroid is being stimulated.. this stimulation causes antibodies to increase which causes a flucuation in thyroid levels which makes it very hard to regulate yourself..some days you feel more hypo, some days you feel more hyper..suppressing the thyroid rests the thyroid and lowers antibodies.. All I am doing is giving myself a “break” of T3 on two days a week that I don’t need it since I am high range as it is and it does have a short half life, and bumping up my T3 by .12 mcg two days a week — what confuses or concerns you about such small adjustments? Now I am CONFUSED by your confusion! LOL! With great numbers, wonderful sleep at night and good energy, what is the danger in what I do? Please inform, thanks Sue .. Guest guest
hi E!! I don’t’ think so unless Judy P is dropping down her T3 on weekends like me...i dunno, E, whadaya think? Guest guest
Hi Ya Judy from Canada now in Texas from Sue from New York now in Texas. OK, seems like Kats is a bit mixed between the posts — but — the GOOD thing is it did make sense to you and may be helpful. Here’s my deal: I need to and WANT to suppress my TSH but — Since BOTH T3 and T4 do that, I am able to mix and match my dosages based on my activity levels — I am up more during the weekdays taking my daughter to and from school, working the 10 hours, working out, and being a mom and wife etc... Son leaving for college, yada yada... And then on weekends — I like to laze in bed til 10 or 11 am and have easy days and nights so I take a lil’ bit LESS T3 (only 5mcg) and a lil’ bit MORE T4 (ONLY .12 mcg) and I feel very consistent from weekdays into the weekends... Fabulous is a WONDERFUL way to feel, Judy and I have those days as well! Love ‘em~! Sue Hi Sue, I think she got all mixed up between your post and mine and jumbled all the responses together. It was me who doesn't want to suppress my TSH totally because I have a perfectly good semi-functioning thyroid and no antibodies. I was also the one who first asked about your weekend adjustment just out of curiosity since I'm working at finding my perfect combinations. You make a great point and I'm going to process that because I'm just the exact opposite. I do most of my activity on the weekends and pretty much sit on my butt during the week. I'm a Canadian, new to Texas, not allowed to work and no friends LOL. So that explains why I've been climbing the walls since my Armour trial. Yesterday I took 50mcg Levo and 1 grain of Armour. Today I took 100mcg Levo and 1/2 grain Armour and I'm feeling - dare I say it - Fabulous. We'll see what happens this evening. It's line dance night. Your post was a great help to me... I can't imagine what you guys are going through there with that HEAT. Oy! Well...if you go back to yesterday morning you will see a post about her trying her Canadian Elexotrin with Armour, thinking it might be better to split the dose over the week by changing her dosing during the weekend with Armour like you can do with the t4 med. She doesn't like the t3 fluxuations and was hoping for a way to avoid the upsy downsy thingy, and figure a good ratio. Kats was just trying to "explore" what her various goals were so she asked some questions so she could help. ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op. Guest guest
LOL, E is only half right. Some were mine, some were yours, but that one is all yours. However, I like your plan but I will do the opposite to give me more T3 on the weekends and top it up for the week to follow. I like your approach... Guest guest
Yes, the mercury is rising in Texas! I can't find the exact post E, but I was looking for a good way to mix my Eltroxin and Armour on a daily basis and in the middle of the long post, I asked Sue about why she was changing her weekend dose so that I could consider her strategy myself. So, I wanted to split the dose each day, not on the weekends, but it's an understandable mistake since it was a huge post. Anyway, I think all of the questions have been answered now. I took 100mcg Eltroxin and 1/2 grain Armour today and I'm feeling pretty good. I'll try that for the next few days. If my energy is not sustained, I will take 50mcg Eltroxin and 1 grain of Armour on the weekend. That's my plan... Guest guest
You think you guys are confused.. I told you I was confused as to who's post belongs to who , .. Sorry if it caused more confusion then the confusion it already caused. The post was directed at Judy, although I did mistake some of the content as being Judy's when it was not..
