I'm confused and must be ignorant of some medical information about blueness, breathing, and oxygen in the body. Your mention of the asthma diagnosis mixup with Asenath caught my attention. Maybe someone could enlighten me.

Sometimes Tylynn (age 13) looks blue in the face (around the mouth and the chin and sometimes the upper nose between the eyes), yet he says he isn't having trouble breathing. He has asthma and used to have to go to the ER after every illness for a breathing treatment until we got a machine at home. It was GREAT. He actually responded better to it than the ER treatment. His asthma has been reactive. They tested him several years ago on a large machine of some sort and said he normally only had 70% lung capacity and they said it was asthma. Since it was always low then when he got sick it became a crisis.

He has energy problems but I thought that was from low thyroid as well as asthma. He tests low normal but the supplement has helped. He takes a compounded capsule of T3 gradual release thyroid hormone.

Then there are always those who just say he's lazy. So many in our family have been accused of that (sure you're all familiar with that one) and it makes me mad they can't understand not having energy no matter how much you want to move or stay awake.

But Darla's post here is making me wonder if his turning blue like that isn't something else than asthma. I told the Dr. I want him to be tested for lung capacity again with the blueness. She tells me to have him breath into a little peak flow meter we have to see how he's doing! He takes singulair tablets and has an inhaler if he needs it. I didn't hear him wheezing either. He wasn't sick.

Several of my grandkids turn blue like that yet say they are not having problems feeling like they are getting air. Some have at times looked like a person having a heart attack.

When my youngest son was a baby he would turn blue and they x-rayed and said his heart was slightly enlarged ( but not to worry they said) and if he kept doing it they would do a blood gas test. What is that? We moved from Phoenix and he got better so we didn't do it. I read in the newspaper there that the nitrites in the well water turned into nitrates (or vice versa) in the babies and they called it blue baby syndrome. It was worst when he ate.

Re: Update on Asenath/apnea & bracycardia issue

I was told to use it if I felt she was breathing shallowly or if she was showing any signs of air hunger. DarlaDr Korson believes that giving oxygen through the night will help thier energy levels during the day...you might just tinker around with it and see if her having it at night, whether she is short of breath or not, helps her more during the day. You can't hurt her by putting it on, unless she fightts it and will stay up b/c she doenst want it on.btw, remember I am not a doctor, just play one on the internet...lol...but that's what I would dodeb Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
