Guest guest
We are currently in Waterloo, Iowa. We are only about 4 hours away from Eau Claire now. My husband is actually there now working Monday through Friday and coming home on the weekends. We have been living that way for about two months and we are all growing tired of it. It's great to see him come home every Friday night but, torture to see him go every Sunday night. We thought the position he has was going to be a temporary 3-6 month deal and he just found out it will be about 18 months instead. If it was going ot be short term, the kids and I were going to stay in Iowa as the girls were just put on the waiver in August and we didn't want to lose the benefits. So, I guess that made our decision for us. I am somewhat excited to move to Eau Claire. I think Wisconsin is so beautiful and I don't think it will be a drastic change in weather for us. Probably a little colder and a little more snow. I am sad to leave all of our friends here in Waterloo. We have been here for 5 years and we have an amazing support group of many friends. Even people I do not know personally have made us meals when I was stuck in the hospital with one of the girls. It's just an amazing community that I will miss greatly. I have spoken with Terri by e-mail before when my husband first moved up there. She was very nice and willing to give me information when and if I needed any. I am most anxious to talk with her about her children's doctor as I would love to find a doc familiar with this disease. We will be a lot closer to our neuro in St. now too so that will be an added bonus. I hope it will not be a problem for our girls to be approved for the waiver. They do have seizures so I think that will help us out a lot. When filling out our paperwork for Iowa, we were sure to list that first and document every single hospitalization we had for them. Their seizures have progressed since with the addition of their numerous myoclonics we have not been able to get under control. I am seeing a lot of e-mail coming from people in Wisconsin. Is there any kind of support group anywhere in the state? Thanks for all the info! And, we are going to be moving as soon as our house sells. I sure would like to be out of here by the holiday season; the Good Lord willing! Take care Kim Wisconsin friends When it rains...it pours! Just found out today that we are relocating to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It's not a big surprise, just happening a lot faster than expected. I have a couple of questions for the Wisconsin gals on the list. First, I spoke with someone who lived outside of Eau Claire...please forgive me as I cannot remember your name. Would you please e-mail me off site knovy2@...? Second, what has been everyone's experience with the Beckett Waiver? Has it been hard to qualify for? We are currently on the Iowa waiver program and wondering if this will help us in Wisconsin. Thanks to you all and please pray for our house to sell quickly and for and Lindsey to get and stay healthy. Kim - Mom to and Lindsey Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
