Hi ,

I'm on this for the second time - this time for a different reason than the

first. The doctor started me on 300 mg a day taken at bedtime and at first, I

noticed that I felt very uncomfortable but that passed after taking it about 2

weeks. Can you describe the " trip? "

Last week, he increased the dose to two a day - one in the morning and one at

night. I am not taking the morning one regularly as I don't like the way it

makes me feel. I feel very light headed and about 8 feet tall. I haven't

decided what I'll do about that second one yet but I think I'll continue taking

the one at bedtime.

Smiles Back!

Alice

Has anyone else had a bad reaction to neurotin? This is one of the medicine's

the sleep doctor gave me to try to alter my sleep pattern. Not only does it not

help, but I has a little " trip " on it last night before I finally fell asleep.

So, it is being chucked along with the topomax which was the first thing we

tried, which at one pill did change things, but not neccessarily better. I woke

up to go to the bathroom 4 times a night on it. But I must say I did fall back

asleep right away. When I increased it the second week I couldn't get out of

the chair the next day. Not worth it at all. Should I start to give up hope

yet or hang on????:)))

I am very interested though if anyone has had that reaction to neurotin, it

was a tiny starting dose of only 300 mg.

Smiles to you,

Hi Alice,

Well I was unsteady on my feet to start with. But when I got in bed, I

could see smoky type stuff moving around the air, but I knew it wasn't

really there. When I did close my eyes, I saw all this very dazzling

rhinestone jewlery! hahaha Really funny as I don't even wear jewlery. But

it was very colorful. When I would open my eyes, I could stop that from

happening, but still saw the swirls of air in sections of the room. I

wasn't scared, but didn't like it at all and don't know as I want to be

bothered getting use to that! thought maybe I was back in the '60's but

when I checked, my flab and wrinkles were still there, so it wasn't a very

good trip!:)))

Smiles,

Thanks, Bug,

can you try sending the link again please? I don't get anything on it.

I hate medicines because I always have strange side effects. But this one

takes the cake!:)

Smiles to you,

I don't think it comes any lower than 300 mg does it? That is pretty low

from what I have heard.

That must have been a weird experience. I have to start new meds at a low

dose and build up slowly. That might be of help for you.

300 mg is a low dose, but it would be too high for me to start without

reactions. I would need to start at around 100 mg.

Has your doctor thought about using Lamictal? That is what I take.

I don't have seizures either (we don't think so, but I keep falling out of

bed). I take the Lamictal to control my myoclonus. It works very much like

some of the other anti-convulsants. It does help me sleep.
