Guest guest
My son is almost 7 months old and he has brachy too- original measurements were 15mm assymetry and a CI of 98%. He has been in a hanger helmet for a little over 2 1/2 months. His assymetry is resolved and his CI was 87% at our last visit and his head looks great. Our orthotist said our goal CI was somewhere around 84-86% - she said with kids starting out with CI's in the high 90's/close to 100% that that's about as far as they can get. We are close now, so I'm hopeful that our next measurements will be our last. I didn't know they made helmets specifically for brachy, which company makes it? , mom to , 7 months Brachy, in hanger helmet for 2 1/2 months Cincinnati Ohio <nicolebrzoska@...> wrote: My son is in his 3rd band. He started at 6 months at 96 Cephalic Index and 14mm assymetry. After his 2nd band he is in the normal range for symmetry but still at 92 CI. The new helmet is strictly for Brachy and I was just wondering how much I should expect for brachy correction? Anyone start with a brachy helmet and what where the before and after measurements. Guest guest
thanks for your reply. Sounds like your son is doing really well. glad to hear it. What I meant by specifically for brachy is that they are only holding the width and shaving out the center back to gain length. They aren't trying to correct any assymetry or anything else. They said this is typically the band design they will use for brachy. He has a doc band. Its the one that comes over the top back of the head and is only shaved out in the middle back. Before that he had the open top doc band. I am hoping this design will get his CI down in the 80s. > My son is in his 3rd band. He started at 6 months at 96 Cephalic Index > and 14mm assymetry. Guest guest
That sounds similar to what they've done with 's helmet- the main place they have shaved out is the middle of the back. He had a good size bump on his right forehead in the beginning which is pretty much gone, but they've had to shave out some of that part too. He's about to outgrow it in the front; there's really not much left of the foam to shave off there. I don't know much about the doc bands. I hope this one works for your little guy. , mom to , 7 months Brachy, in hanger helmet for 2 1/2 months Cincinnati Ohio <nicolebrzoska@...> wrote: thanks for your reply.
