:-) You did :-) Mommy's milk is pure cream, which is my opinion on why

he's gained well this far :-)

Elijah was 8lbs at birth and at 4 weeks was 13 lbs!!! At a year he was

22 lbs and at 16 months he was 26lbs. He got sick this month, though,

and is down to 21lbs. Won't take him long to get it back though :-)

Dawn,

It must be very hard to be the mom of a special needs baby. Every little

thing seems big. I think you should glad he is eating at all and that he

has gained weight. IT sounds like he's doing wonderfully considering the

circumstances. Don't give up on him or yourself. Everything will be OK.

Dawn,

I would come there right now and tell him to eat if I thought it would make

him. {{{{{{{{{{Dawn}}}}}}}}}}}}} Hang in there. You are such a great mom.

Have you considered adding some hindmilk to his bottles? You could put some

milk in the fridge and then skim off some of the fat to add to his bottles

to increase the calories in those few ounces. Just a thought I had. I am

so sorry that you are struggling. This just isn't fair! I will be sending

lots of love and light your way.

Blessings!

Wendi

Bfeeding going downhill again

Its so frustrating you know?

Ethan did so poorly in the beginning, 1/2 ounce every few hours. Weigh

him before and after feedings - it wouldn't even register. Then a month

later he was taking 1 ounce every few hours. At 2 months he was taking a

whooping 3 ounces every 4 hours.

But now? Now we have to push to get a 2 ounce bottle of EBM into him

every 4 hours. That is 10 ounces IF he ate around the clock - and he

doesn't. He eats 4 times a day. 4!!! Lets do the MATH people, 2

ounces, 4 times a day comes out to 8 ounces in a 24 hour period.

Its...SCARY. And now, my milk that was going up? Its down again.

Double pumping I am getting only 1 ounce from each side. If I skip a

feeding, then I can get a total of 3 ounces. Weigh him before nursing

and then after? It doesn't register. If I can only get 2 ounces total

when pumping, he can't be getting more than 3 ounces from me. He was

doing SOOO well!

And yeah yeah yeah, talk to the doctors. I am, we're working on it.

He's not suffering because he is the happiest, most content baby in the

world. But looks must be deceiving because how he NOT be suffering when

he eats SOOO little?!?!? He gained a mere 3 ounces in 9 days. 3

ounces!!!! He is 10 lbs now, and is 13 weeks. He's gained 4 lbs since

he left the hospital and THAT is good. He is in the 10th percentile and

THAT is good. But guys....we've hit the peak and its all downhill from

here, that is how I " m feeling.

He was doing so well for a heart baby and now....now the worry is

starting again. I just want him to EAT. Eat?! Thats a simple thing,

right? Just to....eat. Most likely the 12 ounces a day he had been

doing a few weeks ago was just a growth spurt. What? 12 ounces should

be what a sick child eats on a bad day, right? Not a GROWTH SPURT. I

can't stand looking at numbers, but I'm forced to since we're getting to

the critical part now. The struggle with weight gain. He is due to be

weighed again on Friday and if he isn't at least 10lbs 8 ounces (we was

last weighed 6 days ago), I'm going to request that the doctors start

intervening in some way. Human Milk Fortifier, feeding tube...SOMETHING.

My mommy gut is talking to me now and I'll not have it pushed to the

wayside, thank you very much. Not that I think they will - they are big

on following my intuition.

Will someone PLEASE come out here and tell my baby to just EAT?
