Physical Therapy or Not?

I have seen a lot of posts where mom's mention they bring their babies to PT. CT did not tell me that I shouldn't bring my baby to PT so does that mean he doesn't need it or is it something I should ask about?

Also is it not CT's standard practice to share with the parents the mm? Everyone mentions the number of mm their babie's head is but nobody at CT ever told me what my son's was? Are the parents supposed to know to ask? That's silly if that's the case.

Thanks.

Weren't you given a sheet of Anthroprometric measurements at your

initial consult. That would tell you his asymmetry in mm. Was your

child diagnosed with plagio or brachy? That may be why you were never

told any mm of asymmetry.

In terms of PT. If your child does not have Torticollis then there is

no need for PT. Your Ped should be able to tell you this. If you do

not feel confident then you could always request a PT take a look at

your child. In my case the Ped missed her Tort altogether and I would

not have known had she not been evaluated by an independent PT.

If he was diagnosed with Plagio I would suggest an evaluation by a PT

as the two often go together.

PT is for Torticollis - a common condition in babies w/ plagio but only b/c plagio is an after effect of tort. You can have plagio w/out tort and if your baby does not have tort than PT is not needed.

We had a hanger - not DOC - so I do not know their specific practices but for us I was very "curious" and ask so many questions and had so many conversations with my dd's ortho that he knew I wanted every tidbit and gave them to me.

We had the DOC band. I'm not sure what their standard practice on

measurements is. Our insurance didn't require them so unless I

asked they wouldn't have taken them. I asked and I was curious.
