Guest guest
There are more links between autism and vaccines than the thimerosal piece, and collectively, all the pieces (several SLAMS to a weak or immature immune system) may indeed add up to an increase in autism. Parents who fail to look at the whole picture and continue to vaccinate may be putting their autistic children at more risk. That's why I am not an opponent of vaccination, but I am a proponent of an educated parent. Thimerosal is one " chapter " in a bigger " book " of why vaccines may contribute to autism. I'm not sure autism rates will decrease until we quit giving multiple vaccinations and stop doing them so early. Vaccinating a child who is less than six months old is risky, according to Cave, MD. Vaccinating a premature baby (before he/she is supposed to be born) is even riskier. Have you read her book? I don't understand how you determined that is autistic from birth when he received a chicken pox vaccine in the NICU. How can you say with such certaintly the chicken pox vaccine didn't interrupt the development of his prematurely born immune system and CNS? Are you basing this on Apgars or something else? I'm trying to understand, to learn more, because I talk to parents all the time about how to make an educated decision on whether to vaccinate (or whether to do boosters) their children. I wasn't given the full story before I allowed my children to be vaccinated, and I have major guilt for not having found the full story on my own. On the other hand, I do encounter parents quite often who don't want the full story, and I have to learn to respect that, even if it involves a close family member. *sigh* Penny ************** On a side note, Hearing Barbara Loe Fisher, Major Sonny Bates, and the head of the Lyme Disease group has sickened me in regards to the sloppiness of how we make vaccinations in this country. The anthrax vaccine was produced in a facility that didn't meet the right standards of cleanliness, and the vaccine, tainted in it's own factory, was delivered and injected into our military personnel, making so many of them very sick. The vaccine-damaged individuals are not allowed to sue the factory that made the vaccine, even though there were numerous problems inside the facility. (research Major Sonny Bates on the internet for the anthrax story). > Attached below is an article sent to me, two weeks ago, by my good friend, > and 's Pediatrician, when I was having some concerns about mercury. > Like I've said before, was born autistic, and was not regressive, so I > cannot speak for those children who may have suffered because of vaccines, > but has not; (don't be angry with me--this is just an open forum). > Because I am a researcher and writer (once a college instructor B.A. [before > ]), I found the research in this article to be compelling and to put me > at ease regarding any issues of and mercury. > > I asked our pediatrician if I could share it with you, and he said yes. I think someone once told me tostop doing so much research about HOW, WHY and WHEN this happened to my son.Just when I think I have a bit of control in what I'm feeling or what we aredoing for my boy I find out about 20 other options. I cannot help but feeltotally frustrated that there are no real, concrete answers. I hate it, Ihate that people ask me what is autism, and how did my son get it and Ihonestly do not know what to say. How can I possibly explain that therecould be various causes and people look at me like What? I do know twothings 1 my son will not have his second MMR shot and I want to try thisdiet other than that god only knows. Sounding off feel pretty good. Thanks, An article from Pediatrics> > (http://pediatrics.aappublications.org)> >> >> > ------------------------------------------------------------> >> > has sent this article to you from Pediatrics:> >> >> > Thimerosal and Autism?> >> > http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/111/3/674?> maxtoshow=?> > eaf> >> >> > ------------------------------------------------------------>>>> Support Everyday Miracles by shopping online at IGIVE.COM, where a portionof every purchase is donated to this support network. Guest guest
Dawn Once again your story has made me cry. I could not have imagined going through all you did to bring your beautiful baby boy into this world. I would have vaccinated my preemie too and would tdo it today, under the circumstances... even after what I know about vaccicnes. The thought or risk of the alternative (by not vaccinating) is something I could never consider. Thank God we do have choices and Thank God your son has come so far and continues to make such great progress!!!! (give yourslf a pat on the back too!) As far as thinking he is superman or Wes this is a good thing! My nephew Brett who is VERY much typical and graduated this summer from high school was a ghostbuster (peter vackmin ?) for TWO years. Even in the summer time he would wear his snowsuit and boots. He literally told everyone he met his name was "peter vakim". Then one day he seen Bill Murrayy in another movie, I think it was Groundhog (i'm laughing so hard right now) he was so astonished & amazed he couldn't figure it out. My sister explained how Murray was an actor, etc.... And the next day shopping at Kmart the clerk said "hi cutie whats your name" and he said "Bill Murray". Brett was such a funny/quirky kid growing up, playing with toys still, way after his friends gave them up...As i look back now at how intense or compulsive he, I see lots of similarties in and it gives me another glimmer of hope he is going to be fine.
