Fantastic results Cathy! I am rejoicing with you. Looks like the meds are

working because her creatinine is excellent. Her protein is of course still

elevated, but I can't remember off the top of my head what it was before but

I think it is down from what it was.

Thanks for sharing the great news.

Enjoy your camping trip this weekend.

God bless you,

know I was told how to figure this before, but I can't find the

email that had the info in it, sorry.

Everything but the protein looks good to me. The protein is high, but not as

high as I've seen or had...

Her protein levels are still a little high but I'm not sure what they were prior

to this test....

You can find her creatinine clearance here:

Hi Cathy,

Congrats on those labs! What a great way to start the weekend!

Here's a link to a calculator

Has the " black blood " you referred to earlier resolved itself?

Hi Angel,

How do they measure Cade's urine protein? Doing a 24 hour urine is not the

only route - and for many pediatric nephs, it's not even the preferred

route. Calculating a protein:creatinine ratio based upon the values in a

spot sample is also reasonably accurate. 's never done a 24 hour -

much to my relief. We'd never be able to fit it in our schedule!

Angel,

I have not had a 24hr report done too...looks like some Nephs do not

do it on a routine basis when the diagnosis can be made with other

reports and the usual lab urine report.

It's really not necessary. Just the protein/creatinine ratio from a spot

urine sample is more than accurate enough. In fact, in pediatric and other

cases, it may even be more accurate when there's a chance of errors in

collecting urine for 24 hours.

You should have a " creatinine clearance " result somewhere on that lab

report. I suspect it should be pretty close to 100% though, given a serum

creatinine of 0.8
