Guest guest
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Beth and Patty you have given me my Ah Ha moment!!!!! I think I have strong issues with dieting is cause I have been on diets forever and none of them have worked. So, why should WW work. My Ah Ha moment...WW works because it is not a diet...it is a lifestyle change. I don't have to give up taste, flavor, chips and salsa, meatballs, (oops went on a tangent), etc..just to lose weight. All I have to do is count my points and exercise... I think I question myself becase WW is simple, fun, and very easy...for once I don't have to count a carb, calories, fat, etc...cause it is all ready done for me. Terra wrote: Hi Terra; I am sorry you have such strong issues about dieting. Do you feel this way all the time, or just certain times like when you feel the need to diet, and negative thoughts creep in? Don't let these thoughts rule you. You can rise above them. The best way I deal with thoughts you describe is not thinking of the WW plan as a diet...because we can always go off a diet. I think of it as a healthy way to eat for the rest of my life. I remind myself constantly that it did not take one day to put all this on me, and I can't possibly take it off in one day, one week, or one month, or 6 months, as bad as I want it to be gone. I, too, have been on many diets over the years, and was on the Akins and South Beach diet just before I went to WW again for the umpteenth time this past March. But the one thing I know, if nothing else, is that WW is a healthy way to eat, and I want to be healthier, and I want to feel better, and it is the only way I can accomplish true good health, is eating healthier foods, and watching portion control, and exercising daily getting in my required Activity Points. I think other eating plans offer some good points to consider, and if you use those ideas to further your journey to success that is all right. For me, it is better if I leave all those white flour, white sugary carbs completely out of my life, and concentrate on having the good and healthy carbs like is listed in the Core Plan. Although I am not on the Core plan, I do eat the wonderfully healthy food listed there, I just have to write down my points daily, after each meal or snack, to keep me accountable on a daily basis. Perhaps later on, I will be able to do Core. My lecturer says I am doing fine. It is all about choices, too, and I still make a wrong choice at times (it's human), and I have to pay the price big time. For me, eating ham is a wrong choice, as it causes me to retain fluids...not just a little, but a lot...so I think of it as something I am allergic to, and try not to eat it. Sometimes, by choice, when I do, I know the next day I will have a 3 to 5 pound gain on the scale, and it takes me 3 days to get it off. So if I can't do without ham, I don't do it the day before weigh in. We usually have ham on Easter. Other than that, I just can't eat it. Do you have foods you feel have done this to you as well? I have found that some foods tend to make us depressed, and moody, and feel negative. Eating healthier has improved me in that category tremendously. Don't give up Terra...you are worth it to feel good again. You will be successful this time I feel sure, because you know and have identified your true feelings, and have listed them, and so doing can deal with them, taking them one at a time, and replacing them with positive thoughts. Like...I will lose this weight, but I am not in a hurry, and I can do it in a healthy way. I can do this because I am worth it. Each day I am a little bit closer to being the person I want to be, and only I can make it happen. one step at a time. I wish you every success, Terra, and look forward to your posts. One of these days I may need your help when I have a bad day... and I know you will be there for me...you'll probably already be at goal. Sorry, I didn't mean to run on so. All the best, Pat from K.C. HELLLPPP!!!!! I just have issues with dieting (I am a professional dieter) and really have a hard time sticking to just one thing...I need help...serious help. How do you get rid of the mindset you have to lose this weight FAST? How do you get other diets out of your mind? Here is my secenario...I know WW works, but I am scared to commit to it? How do I get over this fear? How do I get over my fear of looking and feeling good? How do you feel comfortable eating what you want and still lose weight? Ack!!!! Guest guest
Terra, I have been on everything from Adkins to Phen Phen. Last year I lost 30 pounds on my own; so when I started WW one month ago and kept insisting that I would probably not get excited until after about 30 pounds; because I had done it before. I was THRILLED to lose my first 11 pounds and I think it is because it was so easy. It seems that everything in the past I just struggled with. When I was on Atkins I OBSESSED about food and worried from one meal to the next! LOL Once you get the idea of points and then pick up on things you can have,e tc. Its just really easy because you are not so RESTRICTED. The second week I was on it I had to go to an Italian Rest. with co-workers and still lost weight because I knew what I get and how much. My biggest " ahhh " moment came when I realized as Patty said, it should be a lifetsyle change not a diet. Study after Study shows that eating right effects your health and lord knows I want to live longer and healthy. And this is SUCH a supportive group. So we are right here with you! Guest guest
Oh, Phen Phen...I was on Ionamin and also took Tenuate to help me lose weight and boy did they, but they messed with my thyroid to the point I don't have a metabolism (it is very slow...similar to the slowest snail on the planet). My doc said losing weight will be a challenge cause I have to boost my metabolism up higher then my resting metabolism and a bit higher to actually start burning fat. I am aware of my challenges and ready to face them head on. Beth Skeen wrote: Terra, I have been on everything from Adkins to Phen Phen.
