Guest guest
I like some of the 's Chunky Soups. Some are only 4 points for the whole can, some are 5, and some are stay away! Meal ideas for singles I'm looking for any suggestions for meals for one. My big dangerzone is fast food. I have a tendancy to hit the drive through because after a long day of work, it seems so much easier than going home and cooking just for me. I'm not big on leftovers, so making lots of food and freezing or refrigerating doesn't work for me. I am much more likely to be tempted to eat larger portions if there is more there. Any help would be appreciated. There's only so many ways to throw a chicken breast on the Foreman and Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones get old. Guest guest
Progresso also makes a low-fat variety of soups that are usually 4-5 points for the whole, BIG can. Also, Easy Mac is 5.5 points per pouch; fill up by adding free veggies and a big salad. Also, the variety is HUGE of Smart Ones and Lean Cuisines and Healthy Choice meals. Again, fill up by adding low-point items, including " garlic toast " made on a Wonder Light bun with Butter Pam and some garlic-bread sprinkle. Otherwise, if you don't like cooking ahead and eating yummy frozen foods, I don't know what to suggest! Bette in CA
Guest guest
Something I do is put a whole chicken in the crock pot with lots of seasoning and cook it all day. I then take the meat off the bone and put in a storage container. I'll use the chicken for meals for the whole week. First night just chicken and frozen veggies. Next night chicken burritos. Next night chicken salad. Next night chicken and rice. You get the picture. Its inexpensive and takes very little preparation. You can also do this with a beef or pork roast. Hope this helps, > > I'm looking for any suggestions for meals for one. My big dangerzone > is fast food. Guest guest
There are a lot of single serving frozen foods out there, and more and more other things are coming in single serving sizes. For example, I saw 4% lean ground beef at Trader Joe's in patties. YOu could freeze each one individually and have a pre-measured serving of hamburger that you could stir fry, put on a whole grain bun, or eat with a salad and some salsa. The thing is, this requires a lifestyle change and that is probably going to mean cooking your own meals so you know what goes into them. It is also probably going to mean limiting fast food. There are more and more choices that are low in fat and calories, but they are going to get old fast. You've been given some good ideas. Now you have to find a way to fit it into your lifestyle, maybe make some modifications of your lifestyle so you're doing more cooking, and you're going to have to practice your own self control. That's just all part of the game! On Fri, 22 Oct 2004 16:17:53 -0400, wrote: > > Something I do is put a whole chicken in the crock pot with lots of > seasoning and cook it all day. Guest guest
Amy, since my kids are mostly grown, I find I have to make meals for just myself also. I like to take some hints from Applebee's WW menu. They have a grilled chicken with vegi's that's real good, and pretty easy to make at home. You could grill your chicken breast then grill up some vegi's and squash (I buy the large package of Normandy style frozen vegi's from Costco). Spice it up with some Mrs. Dash and pepper, and a whole wheat tortilla on the side. That's 7 points at Applebee's. And a pretty good meal. You could be imaginative and come up with some others as well. I also make a homemade version of Chili's fajita salad: grilled chicken brushed with enchilada sauce LOTS of greens (crunchy lettuce type) tablespoon of corn 1/2 cup black beans (YUMMY) Salsa ff grated cheese ff sour cream and if I have points leftover, low fat tortilla chips You mix the greens with the beans and corn (and tortilla chips if you have planned for them), put the chicken on top, put a little more enchilada sauce (in lines, so it looks pretty) across the top, top it off with a little Salsa and some fat free sour cream. If you have room for fat free cheddar cheese, then go for it. It's really quite tasty. Other options include Stagg chili (the fat free one I think is terrific, comes in cardboard boxes from Wal-Mart). And I use the Progresso 98% fat free soups. They make a nice hearty meal at night with a slice of my home made 7 grain bread. So, I hope this helps. Meal ideas for singles I'm looking for any suggestions for meals for one.
