Hi everyone,

Well, summer is here - and so are the WEIGHTY ISSUES!!!

I can totally understand where everyone is. I am four months post op. I have

about 30 lbs to lose too. I am also depressed about it. I am dieting,

exercising (very low impact) and getting frustrated.

I also feel guilty. A few months ago I was facing possible parlysis or

even death. Now I am complaining about my weight! How quick we are to forget.

It still doesn't change the feeling. So, I am trying my hardest to get the

weight off. I know it will be slower than before surgery - because I am

limited as to what i can do.

I am lucky enough to have a pool. So, I bought a wateraerobics set at the

pool store. I figue I have to watch the kids in there all summer - I might as

well work out at the same time. Dr. menezes really recommends swimming and

water exercise because it is totally non-impact.

I am doing weight watcher - my way. I have ceral and half a banana and

coffe in the morning. For lunch - I have a turkey sandwich (with honey

mustard - no fat) on a no-fat pita pocket, or a salad. Then for dinner - I

fix my family a regular meal (so they can't complain) - and I heat myself a

lean cusines, healthy choice or Weight Watcher's Smart Ones dinner. That and

a small salad - or a serving of whatever vegetable I serve the family. THat's

it!

But i do buy the Weight Watchers desserts and i have one of those at night

if i get a sweet craving. That is it. I can't vary from it. It's portioned

controlled enough for me - and it's do-able!!

So far I have lost a few pounds and I am not happy at how slow it is

coming off! But, what is my alternative? I would love to hear other people's

ideas.

Oh by the way - there is an exercise tape series I also use daily - it is

called Walk Away The pounds - by Sansone. There is a one, two and

three mile walk tape. You do it in your home - not outside. It is very low

impact - approved by the doctor roo. It is a good aerobic workout for those

of us who can't kick box anymore - LOL!!! Just a suggestion - your library

may even have it to borrow?!

WEll, keep up the good fight! We all need to remember that although we are

ot a size 6 this summer - We are alive and well! That's what I keep repeating

to myself!

Love and prayers,

Karyn

I hope you do lose weight but I don't think you should make this your main goal because for me I was hoping that when I started on T3 I'd lose the weight I'd gained and it never happened. In fact I'm still gaining weight even with a very good diet, but I do feel better on T3 than on Armour. Just don't get your hopes set on loosing it, focus on getting better.

This might be shallow, but has anyone else lost weight when taking the Cytomel for Reverse T3? I start tomorrow. I have gained 30 lbs this past year and a half. I want to feel better, but have to admit, I would LOVE to lose some of this weight.

I don't think it's shallow. Thyroid controls metabolism and metabolism controls

weight. I think it's a marker for metabolic well-being. I initially lost

weight on Armour, then gained it all back and then some, despite following

exactly the same diet. That was one of the symptoms of RT3 building up.

Thank you, Margery! You made my day. I, too, have gained weight when Thyroid S

quit working. I am 25 lbs heavier despite following a very low carb diet for

months,I haven't lost a single pound. Do you think once rt3 clears the weight

will start coming off? Pati
