Guest guest
Hi and welcome! I've never heard of the Amby bed. Some people suggest Memory Foam...I chose not to use it for fear of sids plus by night 3 our son was back to sleeping through the night (11-12 hours straight). The first 2 nights we played with what pajamas kept his body temp just right...once we found it, he was back to sleeping through (like I said, night 3). My son started his journey at 7.5 months so he was mobile and sitting up quite well when he graduated (9.5 months). But even still, I wouldn't worry too much about regression but would still do my best while she is awake to keep her off her head as much as possible. How long do they predict she will need to wear the band? If your daughter has torticollis then you will want to keep up with PT and stretches at home. Your orthosist will give you a break-in schedule. With the DOC band, I think the checks were every 3 hours except while sleeping. Then by day 3 it was 23 hours straight (unless you have red mark issues). Definitely have the rubbing alcohol (70% or 91%) for cleaning the band. Possibly, buy a good smelling shampoo...we liked J & J lavendar or J & J soothing naturals scent. Some people say suave or Loreal have good smelling shampoos (you just have to be extra careful because I don't think they are tear free). Wipe away sweat with a dry/clean washcloth throughout the day especially after sleep or car rides, etc. It will go better than you imagine. lisa 18 month old son, Doc grad at 9.5 months > > First let me introduce myself. Guest guest
Just my 2 cents...I looked at the link and I probably wouldn't use the Amby bed unless you are up for breaking a habit of liking motion to go to sleep. Where does your little one sleep now? I would probably try to keep things as routine as possible but if you find that she is struggling with the band and sleeping then consider buying something like this or memory foam or " tuffing it out. Guest guest
Welcome to the group. I don't know anything about the amby. I know that bands work, so I can talk about that :-) What kind are you getting? The ortho/clinician will give you a schedule for wearing it and checking for red spots. At first you need to make sure the fit is good. Then the baby sweats a lot until they adjust to wearing their new " hat " all the time. Otherwise it is pretty easy once you get into the routine.
