Guest guest
Yesterday I figured out that what I thought was the flu was actually probably pancreatitis. Doggone it I was hoping this wouldn't happen, but knew it was something that could after having part of it removed last year. It's probably what was going on when I was in Europe as well so I think this week I'll try to get in to see my biliary doc because I want to know what to do when this happens. All the websites assume that it's caused by alcoholism or a high fat diet and make it sound like a death sentence. Ack! So my goal for the week is NOT panic about this, and not get pancreatitis again. (If only I knew what brought it on...I could avoid that.) Anyhow, yesterday didn't do much but lie on the couch and sleep and surf the net and watch movies. This morning I woke up feeling GREAT, which is common with pancreatitis. It's there. It's gone. (Basically the inflammation goes down and the excretions return to normal.) So I dragged Roy out of bed and made him go running with me. I should earn APs just for the effort it takes to get him running sometimes! Anyhow, we did 9.96 miles (darn that last .4) although we had to walk the last mile because my knee started acting up and I didn't want to injure it. It felt GREAT, though. I missed my 15 mile run yesterday and the knee pain tells me that I'm probably going to have to push back the idea of the full marathon and that even if I'd felt good enough to run, I wouldn't have made the entire 15. Darn. But oh well! Hey! I've made a lot of milestones this year! My first 10k! My first triathlon! My first triathlon in which I didn't completely suck! My first half marathon! Let's just save something for 2005, shall we? Plus this way I can run with Roy. He's going to do the half marathon. Maybe if he doesn't mind that (he was fine on the 10 miles today and didn't complain...much...and when we were done said he was surprised that just two years ago he would get winded playing outside with the dogs), he'll consider doing a full marathon with me in April. So now I'm sitting here with ice on my knee and getting ready for lunch. I think we're going to a movie later and spend some quality time together with the dogs. ~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~' Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator www.teechur.com www.msteechur.com -The successful person will do the things that the unsuccessful person will not.
