Guest guest
I know it's so easy to come up with excuses not to exercise. Probably the most common is " I don't like it. " YOu know what? I literally do not like brushing my teeth. I don't know why, but I never have. But I still do it every day. Anyhow, I am sitting here sick watching the opening of the Summer Paralympic Games in Athens. I swear to God, the next time I don't " want " to work out I am going to remember the wonderful site of these people with EVERY REASONABLE EXCUSE wheeling, being wheeled in, being led in, walking in, looks of determination, HUGE smiles...those of us blessed with able bodies have NO EXCUSE not to get out and celebrate our health! For those who haven't heard of Paralympics, they are an extension of the Olympics, not necessarily a separate event. Their slogan is " Empower Achieve Inspire " and wow, they are, they do, and they have! They have sports such as Wheelchair Tennis, Goalball, Football (5 a side), as well as the regular sports you see at the able bodied Olympics. They are just as much an athlete as Phelps or Lance Armstrong, but we never hear of them. Of course I notice you don't see any coverage on American Television. I guess it just doesn't sell enough advertising. Thank goodness we get CBC Sports. Anyhow, I just wanted to share my moment of inspirtation this morning. This year is the 12th Paralympic Games and they started today in Athens. ~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~' Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator www.teechur.com www.msteechur.com -The successful person will do the things that the unsuccessful person will not. Guest guest
Tony, I used to be a total couch potato but started gradually and now do 45 minutes on the Stairmaster every morning. I actually saw a news clip on this event years ago and it inspired me in the same way > I know it's so easy to come up with excuses not to exercise. Probably > the > most common is " I don't like it. Guest guest
That's awesome Helen! I used to be a complete couch potato too and on Labor Day I completed my first half marathon. If not for having the flu, I would be out running 15 miles today and loving every minute of it. > Re: No excuses! > > > Tony, > > I used to be a total couch potato but started gradually and now do 45 > minutes on the Stairmaster every morning. > > I actually saw a news clip on this event years ago and it inspired me > in the same way > > > > > > I know it's so easy to come up with excuses not to > exercise. Guest guest
Yeah -- once the exercise bug hits you, it feels horrible to have to miss a day -- my obsessiveness turned to something healthy at least I go by the old adage -- if I'm sick above the head, I work out, If I'm sick below the neck, I don't > That's awesome Helen! > > I used to be a complete couch potato too and on Labor Day I completed > my > first half marathon.
