Guest guest
hello all- this is mason's mom. MAson has been in his helmet for over a week now, he is doing very well in it. he had to sleep w/o it last night due to a high fever, but he was back in it in the morning. Does anyone have any suggestions for a stinky/itchy head? MAson has a full head of hair. It kind-of smells moldy and his head itches alot. I clean his helmet real well every night with alcohol, but it still gets stinky. ALso, we wash his hair every night. the helmet and his head are dry before we put it back on. Any suggestions???? Thank you! Kathy - san marcos, texas
Guest guest
Hi, Kathy. My ds has the same problem. He's been in his hanger helmet for about a week and a half now, and he has a full head of hair. I've been cleaning his band twice a day. Once in the morning with just alcohol (91%) and then at night with fruity shampoo, followed by alcohol and then a dusting of cornstarch. Also, I have some baby cologne (made by and ) that I put on his head morning and night and blow dry. That helps IMMENSLY with the stink. The cologne I have is left over from when my oldest was a baby (he's three now) so I don't know if they still make it or not, but if you can find it, I HIGHLY recommend it. It smells just like baby shampoo. HTH> Candace, AZ mommy to Tiernan, 7 mos tort, plagio Hanger helmet 12/05/06john and kathy <johndirty@...> wrote: hello all-this is mason's mom. Guest guest
I am using anti-bacterial wipes- the kind for hands- in the helmet throughout the day. I also do a light wash of his hair or just a rinse at least one other time in addition to doing his full shampoo once. He has been in this routine now almost two weeks and so far, so good... cheryl, liam, toronto >From: Dumerlin <candicedumerlin@...> >Reply-Plagiocephaly >Plagiocephaly >Subject: Re: stinky/itchy head >Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2006 17:23:59 -0800 (PST) > >HI -madi's head gets pretty stinky as well, but have you tried putting some >cornstarch in the helmet? > > candice, ny > >john and kathy <johndirty@...> wrote: > hello all- >this is mason's mom. Guest guest
I found that scrubbing out the band with a dry washcloth first helped to remove the skin particles and oils from the band. I then also poured in the 90 volume alchohol, let it soak a bit and scrubbed with a wash cloth or toothbrush. What I found was the best for getting rid of the stinky head was to switch from baby wash , shampoo...to Kids shampoo. I liked the suave cherry blast it had a strong cherry smell, it really helped alot. also if the weather is permitting let the band dry out in the sun, that really takes the smell away. Good luck
