Guest guest
Hello to all on my two favorite listservs! Would you please email me privately to answer a question? My school district has something called " Partnership for Different Learners, PTO. " It is a district-wide, parent-teacher organization regarding special education/special services/student services. District-wide meaning it's for all students -- from young ones receiving early intervention services through preschool, elementary, middle, high school and those receiving services through age 26 in our district. It doesn't have a large membership yet I believe we're lucky to have such an organization. My question... Does your school district have such an organization? Please send me your city and state with your answer. I'm thinking the answers will be in 3 categories: a. Yes, we have such a PTO in our district [whether or you're not you're involved isn't part of the question but go ahead and share if you'd like]. b. I'm not sure. I've never heard of such a thing in our district. c. No, we do not have a PTO dealing specifically with special education issues in my district. If you'd like the results of my survey, please let me know and I'll forward it to you after I have some answers. I'm asking you to privately email me so we don't clog up the listservs with lots of answers that others don't care about. Many thanks, Beth Langan Mom to [almost 3] Secretary of Partnership for Different Learners, PTO Grosse Pointe, Michigan mblangan@... _________________________________________________________________ Browse styles for all ages, from the latest looks to cozy weekend wear at MSN Shopping. Guest guest
Beth, Your very lucky to have such an organization. I've been to a couple of their meetings in the past, Jo and I participated in Partners In Policymaking together and that was how I learned of the group. She is a wonderful leader and developed some very good relationships with administrators as well. Lois, your new President, also seems to be very committed and that's a great asset to you all. We in Utica did want to start a PAC for special education and the Special Education Director didn't want it. We are still looking into other options however. Best wishes and keep us posted on the survey results. Guest guest
Thanks a lot for responding Carolyn. Thanks for explaining how you're affiliated with the GPParents group & PDL. I wrongly assumed that you were a former resident of GP, like Bella [who's also on those listservs]. Now I get it! Take care, Beth _________________________________________________________________ Wonder if the latest virus has gotten to your computer? Find out.
